KAI POV
"Kai! You're going to be late for school, GET UP!" my mother yelled as I struggled to just open my eyes. I gave it A few more minutes until I actually attempted to resurrect my body from its slumber.
'Today's the day' I thought as I lifted my body to a sitting position. I felt my eyes droop until they shut again. My body fell back on my bed, hitting my soft pillow. I let it happen because I was up all night thinking about how this day would go. My anxiety kicked in and that caused me insomnia, which was the reason I was up all night. Suddenly my mom burst through the door so hard it almost came off its hinges.
"KAI! GET UP!! I jolted back awake and the next thing I knew, I was on the floor trying to untangle myself from my blanket. My mother chuckled at me and helped me out of my blanket.
"Sorry," she said rubbing the back of her neck, "I didn't know you'd react like that. Does anything hurt? I heard a loud thump when you hit the floor." Maybe it was the adrenaline rush, but I didn't realize until she mentioned it but my butt hurts like hell! I winced in pain before brushing it off as nothing because I know my mother would just get overly worried.
"So, are you excited to see Takahiro and Yumi? It's been a while huh?" I nod in response, seeing how excited my mom looked. Our moms were best friends since they were in primary school and did everything together. But since we moved a while back, they haven't really talked much.
"Yeah, it feels like forever since I've seen them." I said with a sad tone.
"Well get ready, you're gonna be late for school." She said as she pats my shoulder and walked back downstairs.
I look at my clock, "7:12!? She wasn't kidding!" I quickly put on my uniform and head downstairs for breakfast.
"Good morning Kai, bacon and eggs?" my father said, already placing my food at the table.
I put my hands together, "Itadakimasu". I quickly ate my breakfast and rushed out the door to catch the bus.
"Kai! Do you have your pills? Just in case?" My mother yelled through the doorway,
"Yes, it's in my pencil pouch." I yelled back reassuring her so that she doesn't worry.
"Okay, be safe!" Despite all of her constant worrying and pestering, she's the best mom anyone could have. I couldn't live without her.
I sprint to the bus stop to see someone already waiting there. I sat down on the bench and took out a book to read while waiting for the bus.
"Hey, you go to XX High School too? What year are you in?" His overly loud and excited voice made me jump. I guess he recognized my uniform but his was covered with a coat.
"Ah, yeah. I'm a third year. Kai Tatarou." I reach my hand out to greet him.
He happily shook my hand and smiled brightly. "Misaki Kazue, second year. Nice to meet you!"
