After a long silence, she sighed “immortal until you find your soul mate, it was originally a curse that somehow got into the soul pool so everyone after the curse was made also had a weaker version of the curse, meaning they can still die.” Ceceile looks up into the sky, she looks like she could cry at anytime. I had to stop myself from reaching out to her.

“I have yet to tell you the only way to snap the links connecting you to the world” she takes a small break then continues on. “You have to purposefully cause the death of your soul mate. After that, you will never be able to return to the soul pool.”

“I will be immortal with you. I don't care about your past, I will stay with you forever. I love you!” I reached out to her, but the look on her face stopped me. It was filled with sadness as she shook her head.

“I'm sorry but that is not possible. The time we have shared is good enough for me. Can you close your eyes and hold out your hands?” Tears starting to well up in my eyes, I do as she says. The next moment cold metal touches my palm, she then wraps her fingers around mine, Her warmth is still the best feeling I have felt. Just before her hands are pulled away, I feel water droplets on my hands.

I stood there for a very long time, when I finally opened my eyes, she was nowhere to be seen and a pocket watch was in my hands. The design had been fading away due to how old the watch was. It was no longer running but it only needed new batteries. It was easy to tell how much care went into this object.
