Hawke decided to take us all out in his truck. It was a nice truck, with a big storage and three seats in the front in which we all sat in unless we brought others, who sat, of course, in the trunk. Hawke had this look on his face when he said that he would take us, though. We had met up after school by the lockers and he had this scowl on his face like he wanted to punch somebody. Wilson flinched at the sight, and I almost didn't want to be there. You don't want to bother Hawke when he has a face as he did. It's just plain instinct to me and Wilson.
We went out to this nice restaurant. I know, we already ate. But they also hold small parties for small occasions like birthdays and weddings, according to Hawke. Plus, he knows all of the workers there. He claims to know all of them from when he was young. But that's just him, I guess. I wouldn't know if what he said was true or not.
We all sat at this roundtable, with some presents laid out. I wondered where they came from. But when I asked Hawke, he said very politely that he wouldn't reveal his sources. I just let it be what it was. A celebration for me making the top form.
It's almost always like this. Whenever something exciting happens, like an 'A' on a test or we did something good, Hawke would take us out to celebrate. It seems silly, but Hawke likes it that way. He says it's good to recognize the small things, even if they don't seem that important. If I were being honest, he would probably throw a huge party if I got a girlfriend, which was unlikely to happen anytime soon in the situation that I am in physically and fashionably.
Hawke proposed a toast and we all drank sparkling cider. Hawke would kick me out the door if I had alcohol. Just when he was going to drink his cider, his phone rang. He excused himself and walked outside, almost speedwalking, but not as. He answered the call, and he seemed confused. But that confusion turned to anger, as he started to yell into the phone. Wilson tensed up from nervousness. I just poked at the table. Hawke hung up, took a deep breath, and walked back inside as if nothing had happened at all.
