I stayed awake for a while that night, making sure that everything was ok. Hawke had fallen asleep a while earlier. I didn't dare try to wake him up. He would probably put me in a crab hold. Wilson would wake up to Hawke trying to make me say uncle and would dive in to save me. Those thoughts kept me awake at night.
I heard a loud thud coming from my room. I froze in my spot. Looking around, I saw Hawke's gun that was resting in his jacket pocket. I had two choices that I could make. I could either ignore the gun and use the desk lamp that rested by the fireplace. But I could also take the gun and see what happens. I made a very stupid decision that night.
With the gun in my hand, my hands were shaking a little bit, causing the gun to shake as well. I couldn't possibly use a gun. I've never even shot anything or anyone before. How in God's name could I defend myself with something that I don't even use? All of these questions came running through my head as I slowly and quietly came up to my bedroom door.
There was a man there, and he froze when he saw me. Our eyes locked with one another. I held my gun up, my arms shaking. He stood normally, almost sensing my fear to shoot the gun. I took a deep breath and pulled the trigger.
"W-what?" I silently whispered. The man was still standing. He wasn't on the floor yet. Which only meant one thing. Hawke used up the bullets before I did.
