Recap: Keegan Murray lives in my apartment. How could I not know this? I've been living here for the past six months and not once did I see this egotistic ass up in personal since a few nights ago. Then I remember the boxes in the hall this morning and it shouldn't be bothering me this much.
But it was and my boss; Sarah was bothered by my lack of attention towards the other customers, I'm supposed to be the waitress but I keep zoning in and out and her tapping foot is saying other wise.
"Joe, the order is up!" Sarah yells with a hint of annoyance. "Hurry up."
"Yes, sorry Sarah." I sighed taking the soup of the counter and bringing it towards the customer.
When the bell rings signaling that a new customer has entered the door, I look up to see the infamous Nathan James walking in and sitting in my section of the restaurant, the same spot we use to sit after my shift was over. I place the soup in front of the customer and making my way towards Sarah.
"I can't serve him, Sarah," I mumble pointing towards Nathan.
She looks over and rolls her eyes, "He's been coming in every night hoping to catch you, and I keep telling him you aren't here." She sighs in exhaustion. "Just serve him and treat him like an everyday customer." She brings up a pot of coffee, I'm beyond annoyed.
"Alright," I say grabbing the notepad and the pot of coffee, here I go walking to another disaster.
"Hello, what can I get for you? Our special for tonight is prime rib served with french fries all for the price of 12.99." I say ending it with a smile
"Hi Josephine, I just wanted to apologize for what I said early today. You know I didn't mean it?" He pleads with me with his oceanic eyes.
"So, that will be The Special? Great choice!" I collect his menu and pour the coffee into his coffee cup.
He grabs my arm before I can even leave. "I know I haven't been the most pleasant these days because I'm half a heart without you, Joe."
"You know what this feels like a parody, but unfortunately, it appears to be real and maybe you should leave." I walk away before running into what feels like a wall, but instead it a person which I Just spilled the coffee all over them I look up and see the brooding and always comes to the recuse Keegan Murray!
Oh great, a brawl of two dip shits in one room, which is equal the best thing I've ever witnessed. I immediately grab the cloth the hangs around my waist and start dabbing furiously trying to get the coffee stained out of his shirt.
"What are you doing here?" I blantly ask.
"It's a restaurant, this is where people come to eat isn't it?" he jolts his arms around, referring to the restaurant.
God, I should've been born a blonde, or maybe just been a bit smarter, "Is he bugging you?" Keegan asked me, looking toward Nathan.
"No, he isn't." I finish patting his shirt. "There now please leave or sit somewhere else, I don't need to take care of you too." I pointed my finger to his chest, talking to him like he's some sick puppy.
"Whatever," he says sitting right across from Nathan as I hand him the menu. Great you have one guy that ruined his team mate's career and who thinks I slept with said teammate and said teammate is just as much as an egotistic ass then the other.
I walk back over to the counter, Sarah was just getting off the phone and turns to me. "You know, for once it would be nice to not have problems be brought to work. But maybe we should call the police and have them deal with that situation." She says pointing towards the boys, which were face to face. You could fell the intensity protrude off them, and their stance nearly ready to pounce on each other.
"Great," I say making my way across the room, running is more like it.
But I guess I wasn't fast enough because Keegan already takes the first punch and his fist connects with Nathans lower jawline, causing him to go flying to the ground. Customer get up from their chairs baffled at the sight, Nathan proceeds to get up again but Keegan already takes to the ground grabbing Nathans shirt and punching Nathan over and over.
"Keegan!" I screamed at him, but he continues to beat Nathan's face, which begins to bleed from his mouth and his nose. "Keegan!" I scream one last time before he looks up at me. His fist mid-flight and his eyes giving me the most spine chilling feeling, Keegan looked just like a puppy who by accidentally peed inside the house.
He admittedly got off of Nathan, stand up and over to me grabbing my one forearm. My face looking up towards his, he face soft and all he whispers to me is "I'm sorry." Before gripping on a little tighter to my forearm then releasing it and sending him out the door.
Nathan attempts to lift himself off the floor, but loses grips and fall down again so I quickly go to his side and help him sit up straight. He wipes the blood from his face and he ruptures into laughter. "You know for a guy, who can only use his left hand, he makes a mean punch."
Sarah comes up, giving me a cloth and signals the customers to return to their seats. She then looks at me, "You can go home alright? I'll see you Thursday night. "Sarah grins at me and I nod my head in agreement." Take him with you." She looks disgusted by Nathan, and quite frankly he didn't look so attractive.
I hand my apron back to Sarah and advancing to the door with jerkosars. "Thanks," I speak to Sarah and she smiles back.
Her face looks at me in disappointment. "Just make sure you don't bring your problems here again."
Which I reply with a nod before entering the cold air I wrap my coat around my body, looking to Nathan who still has the cloth attached to his bottom lip. "Thanks for saving me from Keegan." He smiles trying to be sincere.
"No," he looks shocked about my answer, "you have no right to think I was saving you. I was saving him; you destroyed his career, Nathan. You deserved it as much as the next person. "I shiver against the cold.
"You know instead of arguing in the cold want to bring this conversation into my car?" He beams, walking toward his parked Tesla.
I continue to walk, plugging my headphones into my ear hoping the Red Hot Chili Peppers will drown out Nathan. Yet it seems to have failed me, Nathan drives beside me. His mouth keeps on moving but I keep walking faster, ignoring him when he calls out my name. The apartment couldn't have been any closer than this moment, he continues calling my name but Californication has me to in the mood to even want to listen to what he says.
Entering the apartment lobby almost became satisfactory when Nathan appeared in; I turn to look at him. "Nathan, leave me alone."
"I'm not going." He attempts to catch his breath. I turn to the elevator getting my chance and thank god it's already on this floor. I enter it and quickly clicking the button hoping it would close in time, but time fails me yet again.
He runs into the elevator, "We need to talk Josephine." He mutters, hovering his body over mine.
I've never felt so claustrophobic before, the elevator opens on my floor I shove Nathan back. Running out of the elevator, "Leave me alone Nathan." I yell, praying that I'll reach my apartment before I could see his face again.
He tears at my arm jerking me back touching him; my body collides against his chest, "Just hear me out Joe." His mouth bends down breathing down on my face.
"Let me go, Nathan!" I pleaded, but he still has his hands grasped around me.
My apartment door opens, Nina shows her head around and seeing her made me feel so secure. "Get off her Nathan." She storms over attempting to grab me for Nathan's arms.
"She said get off her." A voice calls from behind Nathan. "Don't make me hit you again."
