I can shout in a silent room,
And still you don’t hear me
I have my picture everywhere
And you refuse to see me.
These things, you call them normal
And expect me to accept.
Its that state of mind,
That’s put us here today.
I work for my time in the spotlight,
You say it’s easy for me,
Just because I’m a woman.
To deal with the ignorance,
Because that’s part of the deal.
When a man sits at the top,
He’s treated with respect.
And that’s all I truly want.
We all have a voice,
And different eyes.
For just a moment,
Borrow mine.
Hear these words,
that have echoed through time.
Hear my voice,
Hear theirs,
Because there’s no use shouting,
Upon deaf ears.
