A new world surrounds me,
Walls towering above my head,
Smothered until I can’t breathe.
Taking a kiss, I didn’t want to give
It’s all gone too far.
The end should have been long ago,
When I was lying in the dirt.
Afraid to take another step,
Forcing you from my mind.
Time will slowly heal,
But ‘till then I shall hide,
Careful to cover every bruise,
I’ve been given the strength,
To tell you it’s through.
I don’t owe you anything,
It was my decision to make,
Not your choice to take.
A weight has been dropped on my shoulders,
The words I can’t say,
The ones I can’t even think.
As each day goes by,
I grow more and more exhausted,
With the burden ever growing.
