You set the stage
And began the game.
You moved your piece,
And took my king.
You threw me to the fire,
And watched me burn.
In the dark,
I couldn’t see your face.
But I heard your voice,
And that I’ll always remember.
It’s ringing in my ears.
We played the game,
You forced me into never ending shame.
I can’t hold up my head,
And look into another’s eyes.
When I open my mouth to speak,
All I do is choke.
In the night, I learned to fear,
And began to hate because of you.
Still I can look up into the sky,
And watch the stars appear.
Going forward, another day.
Just know that one day,
It’ll be you that burns.
