"Are you really sure you don't wanna go inside?" Gil asked me with much confusion in his eyes. I nodded. "But there are guards who is staring at you like you're their prey that was about to hunt down."
"S'fine. Besides, they know me." Lies. When I looked at the guards, they were the same people who took me away from my grandma and home at the first day of debt agreement. I guess they know about the case I ran away from the Wilson.
Good thing they weren't chasing me.
I looked back at Francisco who's confused face didn't fade away as he nodded slowly, looking back and forth between me and the long-staring buff guys.
"You should go ahead now. You'll be late." I informed him once again to break the uncomfortable air. He sighed and about to protest, but when he opened his mouth, he closed it again and just obeyed to walk ahead the humongous building.
I watched Gil's back going to the automatic sliding door before he was completely gone, leaving me alone on the sidewalk. The guards was still digging deeply their stares at me and I think I supposed to go now. All the plan I made to escort Francisco is ruined. I had to admit, I can't face Smith yet.
Shyly turning on my heels, still aware at the guards gaze, I was heading to the car that me and Francisco used to get here when I suddenly realized that I forgot to ask for keys.
Damnit!
I looked back at the building where he disappeared, my mind debating whether to go or not. I can't just hop on another transportation because I don't have money with me.
Well, I guess I have to wait here...
Tapping my foot for only five minutes of boredom, I groaned in frustration.
Argh! I have to walk---
"Need a ride, amour?"
Shit!
That voice.
I kept my head steady where I was looking, not daring to glance whatsoever. Keeping my smaller pace to escape, a hand pushed me back.
"Ignoring your husband, huh? Well that's rude..." Smith, who I marked to be, kept a tight grip behind but being gentle so he won't hurt me. "Come back now. I missed you."
I blushed instantly, definitely not expecting him to say that. I tried to yank my hand away but there's no budge, he's stronger than me.
"Well?"
"I'm sorry." I apologized. Stupid, what's that for?
"Wha-what?" He asked with almost a laughing and mocking tone. "What are you apologizing for?"
"I'm sorry. I'm ranting." Now my mouth won't really stop itself.
"You weren't. Look, you are so awkward like a lost kid, fiddling with his own fingers." Smith laughed, a sound that I barely hears when we started to live under the same roof. Even when he does that, it seems like he was mocking me but right now, his laugh sounds a real one.
Suddenly, he forced me to face him and damn! He was still the gorgeous man I met before, no scratch about that. He was wearing a pink formal tuxedo with a nice pairing of necktie. A very tight pants and black shoes. When he turned me around, of course, the smell of his musky and manly cologne couldn't be avoided. Unable to look straight directly at his eyes --because I know I would be distracted than I am right now--, I just kept my head facing the ground, as if it was the interesting topic right now.
"Hey, look at me." He commanded with that voice I hate. The voice of sexy demand-ness. I shook my head stubbornly and I felt he rolled an eye.
BAM!
My heart almost fell out of my circulatory system when Smith, out of the blue, took my hand with his own.
"Don't throw your ring away, amour." He trailed off as his sturdy palms yet manly pushed the ring next to my pink finger. "Everyone must know that you are aready taken."
Shoot that last sentence! So he was the man who took the ring on the wet road. Wait, he chased me after that? But W-whatever! I'm glad that it wasn't stolen. If that's happen, obviously I'm dead as fuck.
"Are we clear about that?" He said, snapping me out. I absentmindedly nodded, forgetting what he was talking about.
"Great." He said again pinching my cheeks before glancing under his sleeves. "Oops, I think this end as for today. I have an important meeting scheduled." Smith brushed his suit professionally, giving my palm an unexpected kiss. "And as for you, I'll be meeting you back at my house. We have a lot of things to catch on. Don't forget it, amour..."
Smith smiled at me as he walked away with his usual confident posture. He greeted the guards before stepping in. I on the other hand, froze at the spot where he left me with heart beating so hard in my chest, confused if I am fluttered or just plainly confused.
What the hell?
