"What do you want? Do you know what time it is?" Argo asked, voice rough and gravelly from sleep. "You know what Erikos will do if he finds out you're calling me again."
"Yeah, I know, I just...It hasn't been a good day. Or week. Or half a month. And I kind of feel like shit," Bastian admitted, looking off to the side shamefully despite the fact that no one but Monty was there to witness it. There was a long pause before Argo spoke again, something like concern coloring his tone.
"When was the last time you went out at all? Other than just clubbing," he asked softly. Bastian gave a soft sigh, his free hand running through his mess of blonde-black hair.
"About half a month," he eventually admitted, looking off to the side again. There was another long pause, prompting something like anxiety to work its way through him.
"I'll be there in ten," was all Argo said before hanging up. Bastian took a slow breath, setting his phone down before lying back carefully on the bed. Monty had made his way up his arm, now curling contently just below his shoulder. He cast a glance down at the snake, reaching down to stroke his head gently while he relaxed into the pillows.
About ten minutes later, Bastian looked up when he heard a knock at the door. He got to his feet, prying Monty gently off his arm before setting him in his tank. He then looked around for a moment, settling on tossing a stray hoodie on and deciding that would be good enough. He walked towards the door of his apartment, combing the longer strands as best he could with his fingers. Taking a deep breath, he took a moment to steel himself before opening the door.
Standing in the hallway was a tall, tired-looking man, his dark mess of hair ruffled a bit and the bags under his icy blue eyes accentuated by the lack of sleep he had gotten. Bastian stepped aside, letting Argo in before closing the door behind him. "So..." he began, shifting his weight from foot to foot in an anxious manner.
"Go lay down," Argo instructed, not allowing Bastian to finish. Bastian gave him a confused look before sighing. He didn't say anything, just walked back into his room and sat down on the edge of the bed. He laid back, sinking into the overly fluffy blankets with a yawn. He laid like that for a few minutes, his eyes fluttering closed as he waited for Argo to come in with whatever idea he had planned this time.
Argo returned before long, and Bastian's eyes flicked open half-heartedly to look at him. To his surprise, Argo was holding a DVD in one hand and a large bowl of popcorn in the other. "What are you..." Bastian began to ask, but eventually cut himself off. Argo didn't respond, simply sitting down on the edge of the bed next to him. "Get under the covers," he rumbled, shooing Bastian as he spoke. The demon gave an exasperated sigh before turning to crawl up the bed and slide beneath the cloud-like covers.
