Drowning in High Places

A Scripture From The Creed

A Scripture From The Creed

Dec 01, 2018

In the vast land called Fortis, there lived a living God. The Verus Deus was a powerful entity that was worshipped by a group of people living at the Southwest part of the land. They were thriving. They were known for their resourcefulness and their strength. Their living God, Verus Deus was believed to exist with them in different living forms. They lived in peace and wealth.

It all ended when a more larger group of people from the North, the pagans, decided to wage war with them. The pagans saw the Creed as a threat. They were envy of their success. The pagans lived in the forest using a primitive way of life while the Creed lived in comfort with their continuously upgrading technologies. They do not believe in Verus Deus. They believed that the Creed were a group of evil people that just wants to own all the wealth and technologies in the world with a plan to take over the whole land of Fortis.

The Creed knew of the pagans jealousy. They were aware of the plans that were running in the pagans' heads however, they did nothing. Their God told them to leave the pagans. It was not an act of arrogance but an act of piece. If the Creed joined the war, a lot of people's death will fall on their shoulders. Their weapons are much more advance than those primitive people. Their faith and power will be tarnished by the malicious intent surrounding the war.

The War happened. The pagans attacked and spurred the Creed's minds. The pagans were successful in drawing in the Creed to war. There were blood and destruction in the land. It lasted for ten years. Bodies that were left in the battlefield rotted and polluted the place. It was a continuous offense and defense from both sides. Their minds were filled with the intent to hurt the other. They murdered and tortured each other. The land was filled with hatred, fear, and pain.

The Verus Deus witnessed how its people fell in depravity with the influence of the pagans. It mourned and cried as it decided to sweep its beloved land from the evil that continues to lay destruction in its trail. Strong and sharp winds covered the whole land of Fortis with heavy rain and large ice drowning the earth. It was a cold and harsh punishment, indeed.

One by one, the pagans and the Creed was slowly dying from the harsh weather. The sharp winds cut them in half. The heavy rain flooded their homes as they drown. The large ice crushed their heads as their blood coated the ground. The Creed was almost wiped out while the pagans found a way to survive as they know the topography of the land while they escape from the God's punishment. They were both helpless and hopeless however neither groups regretted their decision to go to war.

In the end, the Verus Deus did not succeed in opening their eyes. after that, the Verus Deus disappeared from the surface of the land. The Creed blamed the pagans for the disaster that they experienced and some secretly hated the Verus Deus for it. The pagans' hatred for the Creed and their God grew and contaminated the mind and hearts of every single one of them.

The pagans started calling the Verus Deus as a monstrosity labeled as the Timore while the Creed was labeled as the Evil that wants to control it. They lived separately for years without knowing what the other is doing. As generations passed, the history was slowly forgotten and disregarded by the majority. The land became tranquil but the fear remained. The war long forgotten but conflicts lasted.

Eventually, the Legend of Timore sprouted and spread throughout the land.

"You said you were going to take him back from me..."

A deep voice resounded from her throat. All Charybdis can do is stand still as her inner self personified, speak. She cannot even utter a single argument against the voice because all she can hear is the truth.

"... but I didn't choose him."

Her beady eyes gleam under the moonlight as she smile at their appalled expressions. Sal's red hair covered the hurt in his eyes. Iuppiter's chest constricts from the painful assault of his Matella's words. It hit them right at their cores. Ignus is laying still as he listen. And then there was Andronicus.
Now, Charybdis can only feel pity. Pity for him, but most of all for herself. As the two stared at each other, she felt like a thousand needles keep on prickling her skin from the familiar attention that the man is giving her.

He missed his Ella.

"He accepted me in."

As soon as Charybdis utter those words, the finality of their circumstances is established.

This is not only a war against the land, but also a war against the five.
