Oriana walks into Association headquarters as she thinks on how exactly she’ll deliver her report. She walks towards the secretary as she types away ignoring Oriana as she walks up.
“Hello,” Oriana says as she continues being ignored. “Hello!”
“Yes, Ms. Sumre?” The secretary asks.
“I’m here to deliver a report.”
“Of course. After all, you’re the one who’s team went on a rampage in their last battle.” She says with a sly grin on her face.
Oriana lowers her head. “About that, we have reason to believe…”
“Trying your best to save them? Already feeling like a part of the team?”
“It’s not that. But if they do fail that’ll look bad on me in the long run.” She says twiddling with her fingers. “So, I just want to help them out a bit, on top of that this might be super important information.”
“Alright, I’ll tell them you’re on the way.” She says continuing to type. “Good luck in there”
“Right!” Oriana yells out.
“Calm down.”
“Right,” Oriana says softly.
Oriana walks past her and walks onto the elevator as she presses the button for the top floor. She sighs breathing heavily as she continues to think of what she could say. And as the elevator stops, she readies herself and stares as Harry stands before her.
“Ms. Harry,” Oriana says relieved.
“I can tell why you’re here. Toshiro wants another shot, doesn’t he?”
“Yes.”
“Then what are you planning to do?”
Oriana stands bringing all of her confidence to the surface. “Well, there is some new information.”
“New information?”
“Yes, Kenji says he encountered some odd girl before him and Repi’s Bond started acting odd.” She says.
Harry turns around. “So, Toshiro might be right.”
“What?”
“Toshiro called me before you arrived, he’s a bit of an idiot so he didn’t explain it properly, but I have the basic idea of what he was trying to convey,” Harry says. “Well, it’s a good thing I already called the Board.”
“What!?”
“They’re the only ones who can actually save you guys. And they were just about to decide about what to do about the little incident from earlier too.”
Oriana lowers her head. “Okay, well, let’s hope for the best.”
“That’s all you can do at this point,” Harry says jokingly.
Harry and Oriana enter the meeting room as each of the screens across the room turn on. Oriana stands in the middle of the room and squirms nervously as all of the eyes turn towards her.
“Agent Sumre, we’ve heard and seen what Team Saurian has done in its last match. They lost complete control of their Kaiju and now they beg for a second chance?” A stern older woman says.
“While we do admire and respect Toshiro, this is a bit much. Regulations would say he would have his Kaiju revoked and then be banned from the Brawls entirely.” A husky-voiced man says. “The only reason we’re even entertaining the thought is the idea that Toshiro supposedly came up with.”
“Yes, well when Toshio spoke to Kenji. He mentioned meeting this weird girl right before his and Repigigas’s Bond become odd…” Oriana says twiddling her fingers. “I know it’s not much information but….”
“So that’s what he said.” The woman says.
“Are we sure we believe Toshiro? He has proven to be a little bit of a wildcard before.” A calmer voiced man says. “He would say almost anything to get his way at this point.”
“True, but there’s no way he would lie about this. After all, he helped to undermine them before so if they learned of his connection to the kid then I’m sure they’d send someone to get him.” The husky-voiced man says.
“Yes, but he could just be using them as a scapegoat as some kind of way to divert attention from his negligence.” The calmer voiced man says. “Again, are you sure we are to trust Toshiro.”
“Well, for now, our only question should be, if we can afford to not trust Toshiro.” The woman says.
“Um, what’s going on?” Oriana asks.
“Not everyone is in favor of Kaiju,” Harry says walking further in. “There are some who still feel the sting of Second Great Kaiju War.”
“The war? But that was ages ago.”
“For some people, fifty years isn’t nearly long enough. It was Toshiro’s generation thirty years later who managed to bring Kaiju back from the exiled obscure beast they were after the war.” Harry explains.
“But then there were some jokers who wanted to make things go back to the way they were and keep it that way separating Kaiju from Humans and keeping it that way forever.” The woman says seriously.
“So, what your saying is that someone who has a grudge against Toshiro did this?” Oriana asks.
“That has yet to be determined, but there is still a chance even if it is small that they are truly behind this.”
Oriana twiddles with her thumbs again. “So, we’re unsure if any of this is real?”
“Yes, but we have to do something to test this.” The woman says.
Harry faces the screen. “I have a suggestion. Whatever or whoever is behind this we have one way to smoke them out.”
“And in the end, Toshiro gets what he wants no matter what.” The gentle-voiced man says.
“You don’t mean?” Oriana asks.
“We will give Toshiro one more chance. Either he will uncover proof that some antagonistic factor is at play here or that his protégé can control his Kaiju.” The older woman says. “Should he fail to provide either he will be expunged and the Kaiju Repigigas will immediately be brought into the care of the Association.”
Oriana smiles. “Of course, I’ll be sure to inform everyone. I’m sure they’ll be thrilled, and I’m sure we’ll be able to show off our power!”
“Our?” Harry asks.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll work hard to support my team and reinvigorate your faith in us.” Oriana says excitably.
“Don’t disappoint us.” The husky-voiced man says.
Oriana salutes and walks out of the room with the doors closing behind her and Harry remaining in the room.
“So, you plan to use Toshiro and his lot as bait?” She asks curiously.
“To be fair he’s using us just as much as we’re using him Since we’re both using each other for our own ends it even out.” The woman says.
“Yeah let’s have Toshiro pull his weight and it puts a cute smile on Agent Sumre’s face so it’s a win-win in my book.” The husky-voiced man says.
Harry turns and walks towards the doors. “I’ll be sure to let Toshiro know what the deal is.”
“Please do, we’ll leave the rest of this up to you Harry.” The gentle-voiced man says as his screen goes dark.
Each of the screens turns off and Harry is left alone standing in the room. “I guess someone like Toshiro could stand to be used for a while.”
“Let’s hope that everything goes off as planned, after all, Toshiro is strong, and anyone chosen by him has to be strong in their own way.” Harry leaves the room with a gentle grin. “And besides it’s always fun to have some unexpected turns here and there.”
