I woke up to water dripping on me. I glanced around to see there was barely any light. The only light came from something around a corner. I noticed bars separated me from the light. I could make out rock walls surround me. I looked up to see rocks above me also. Moisture covered all the walls and the floor. Another droplet hit my cheek. I sat up and whipped my cheek. I looked down and noticed a metal cuff with a chain connected to my ankle. Stood up and walked over to the bars. I could feel the sharp point of rocks under my bare feet. I tried to ignore the pain. I still couldn’t see what was around the corner went I got up to the bars. All I could see was the rock wall on across.
“Hello?” I could hear my voice travel down the walls. I wanted a few minutes and only heard the drips of water hitting the ground. I glanced around the small area I was locked in and noticed a small loaf of bread randomly in the back. I walked over to it and could see it was soggy from all the water. It was the only thing in the caged area. I sat down and leaned against the wall and stared down at the ground. A few more droplets fell on my face. I went to wipe my eye and notice it was throbbing. I gently touched my other eye and noticed it was swollen also. “He hit me again even after I was down.” I mumbled.
Hours went by and I still didn’t hear any other voices. I looked at the loaf and was afraid to bite into it. A few more hours went by and I was starting to feel sore from all the rocks digging into me. I could hear my stomach start to grumble. I looked at the bread again. I tried to lite my hand to help get warmth but the moister on and around me made it vanish in seconds. Another droplet hit my cheek and I lost it. I stood up and quickly focused on all the water around me. I watched as water balls began to form and I threw it out the cell. I sat back down, and the ground was dry but still unconformable. I felt another drip from above. I let out a cry and hit the ground with my fist. As I looked at the spot I hit I noticed a drop of blood land on my hand. I lifted it to see it was scraped up but not bleeding much. Another drip hit. I raised my hand and touched my nose with my fingers. I glanced at them and noticed it was starting to bleed more.
“Damn it!” I cried. I knew I had exhausted my energy when I moved all the water and knew I didn’t have anything around me but the soggy bread to get some energy back. I laid down and felt a few more drops hit me. I wondered where the water was coming from. I put my head on my arms to try and provide more comfort. As time passed, I couldn’t even guess how long I had been trapped in the cell. I stood up and cried for help a few times but after a while, I noticed I was truly alone. I ended up slowly eating pieces of the bread until finally it was gone and was left with just water that had formed again in the cell. More time went by and I finally came to the realization I was dying. I laid on the cold rocky floor and stared at the wall, “I was the best in the school, but I guess I am nothing compared to anyone else. The school didn’t train us to use our Match skills a lot. I could use Red Match user’s abilities well due to Clare, who played with fire all the time. The other Match abilities, I simply knew super basic abilities. Water was something I could move if I tried but hurt my body when I did. Another droplet hit my face and finally burst into tears. I was afraid of death and I didn’t want to die like this.
I wondered how the women felt though. I had used an ability on her, I had read about in a book. I was sent the book in a package from an unknown person. The book was actually one of the forbidden books in our school. I thought about turning it in, but instead found myself interested in what was written inside. The book had spells that only Black Match Users could perform. Spells from controlling another to killing someone by just seeing them. The spell I tried on the women was suppose to be knock her out and wake up like nothing happened. The spells in the book though, used a lot of energy from the user though. It could kill the user, which is one of the reasons the book was on the ban list. Of course, the spells inside were the bigger reason.
I listen to the drops of water around me and finally sat back up. I tried to stand up and walk to the bars again but as soon as I stood up, I could feel my legs start to give up. I took a step and slipped and hit the ground. I could feel some of the rocks dig into my knees. I laid still on the ground till I finally heard footsteps echo from around the corner. I glanced up and noticed three figures outside the cell. I heard the metal squeak as one of the figures opened the cell door.
“Get her up.” It was Mr. Jones. I could tell by his tone and his deep voice from back in the limo.
The two others walked inside and attempted to stand me up. I could no longer feel either one of my legs and most my body felt numb. One of the figures picked me up and cradled me. The figure was warm as my head set against their chest. They carried me out of the cell and walked behind Mr. Jones. I felt my eyes grow heavier as we walked down the stone tunnel. Torches lite the path way along the walls. I glanced over to see other cells with no one inside. I finally felt my eyes betray me as they closed.
