She took a closer look at the goo. Then, deciding that it would be prudent to first try touching it with something other than her bare flesh, she used the pencil from the desk to prod at the viscous puddle.
All she found out was that it was somewhat sticky, and seemed to be congealing. It must have served some important purpose at one point or another, otherwise it wouldn't have been fed into the tank.
Em was somewhat relieved to deduce that some of the stains on her uniform had come from this goo, whatever it actually was. It didn't seem hazardous. She definitely didn't want to try eating it or anything, but it hadn't irritated her skin where it had soaked through a few spots on the first layer of her clothes.
Em swept her eyes towards the tank, by far the most imposing thing in the room. A chill ran up her spine just looking at it.
