Lin awoke to the sound of her alarm clock, the dream had already faded by the time she reached her alarm to turn it off. She got ready for school then headed out the door.
The apartment that she lived in was within walking distance to the University she went to. She took her usual route while re-reading the assigned book for her class. Lin scratched her head when she looked down at the book in her hand then glanced up and abruptly stopped walking, nearly missing a pole that stood in front of her. Her book and papers flew out of her hands. She glanced around to see if anyone had noticed and to her dismay, of course, a handsome young man was staring at her with an amused expression.
Her mouth slightly gaped open, as she stared at him. There was something strangely familiar about the way his eyes seemed to change from a silvery blue to sky blue every time he shifted his gaze and his hair that fell past his shoulders in light waves of platinum blonde that shone so bright when the sun came out from behind some clouds, it looked as if he was ringed in a halo of light.
He smiled at her as he got up from the bench he was sitting on and started to walk straight towards her. Lin blushed and gathered her scattered papers to stuff them into her backpack.
"LIN!" a familiar voice called out and she peeked up to see one of her friends walking towards her.
Lin glimpsed back in the direction the young man had been, but he was gone. She looked around somewhat confused, she had only taken her eyes off of him for a few seconds.
"What're you doin'?" Trish asked, also scanning the area.
"Huh...that's weird," Lin mumbled then looked directly at her friend. "Trish, did you see that guy?"
Trish shook her head and glanced around some more. "What guy?"
"The one that was just here a second ago," Lin replied, standing up and swinging her backpack onto her shoulder.
Trish stared at the other girl confused and said, "I didn't see anyone..." Lin furrowed her brow and mumbled something to herself. "Maybe...I just missed him? I wasn't really paying attention." Trish smiled then continued, "Why? Was he cute?"
When Lin didn't respond Trish nudged her elbow. "Aaah, so he was cute! What'd he look like?"
Lin blushed a little bit then shook her head and gave a short laugh. "Yeah, he was...Come on. We're going to be late for class if we don't hurry."
"We could always skip it and get something to eat instead," Trish said hopefully.
"Trish, you've already skipped class, like what, four times?" Lin exclaimed and started walking towards the building that held their class.
"What?! I have a B in it!" the other girl protested, "And I really don't think the teacher counts attendance anyways, one of my other friends took this professor before and said that he didn't...not really anyways."
"Come on," Lin said and grabbed her friend's arm.

"She's starting to see," the man said to his companion and pulled out an ornately decorated pocket watch.
"Took her long enough!" chirped the companion. She was in the form of a small white bird and flitted from foot to foot.
"These will be dangerous times for her." The man glanced at the watch and continued, "I want you to keep watch of her."
"Yeah, but you know I cannot intervene."
"Yes, but you and I both know there are ways around that..." The man paused and watched the two ladies cross the street. "A lot is depending on her success. If she fails, there will be chaos...And we will have to face those consequences."
The little bird chirped in agreement then took to the sky.
