It's difficult to fully understand and know a person if they never show you who they truly are. Let's face it, being human is a complete telenovela altogether!
"Let's go," I told Liam, getting up and heading for the door. If he didn't follow me, I'd simply take the bus back, somehow.
Spirits can hitch a ride with whomever they like, right?
"And why are we leaving so abruptly?" He asked, walking beside me. "First you complain about how important it was for you to see our drunk fellow over there and now when you have the opportunity to actually know more, you choose to leave. I'd love to know why."
"Could you just make us disappear or something?" I asked, crossing the street.
My mind had been racing ever since George called Austin an alcoholic. I could not wrap my mind around that. What signs did I miss? I made him swear that he wouldn't drink more than a glass. I knew he never gave one shit about my principles but I hoped that his love for me would at least give him a reason to try. A girl can hope, right?
"You're stuck in your head, aren't you?" Liam asked.
"Something like that."
"How about we take a little break and eat?"
"Wait, what? We can actually eat?" I asked, thinking of the junk food I'd love to stuff my face with.
"Technically, yes." He replied.
"So that's a no."
"We can only eat when we are in our world. You simply need to know where to dine and who not to piss off," He replied.
"Meaning..."
"Meaning, there are rules as to who can eat at a certain place. Some places are for every TD and H while others have their specific crowd."
"Couldn't you just say Tom, Dick, and Harry in full? The same amount of time spent," I replied, scoffing.
"Do you want to eat or are you going to be all moody and aggressive all night?" He shot back, halting.
"Fine," I replied. "I'm craving something spicy. The delicious kind of spicy."
"Say no more," Liam replied, smiling back at me.
My uncertainty towards him was slowly fading as he led me down the street. There was some good in him, no matter how much he fought to keep it at bay.
