The Fox and Doe ended up getting that owed cup of coffee. Soon, they became wonderful friends, best of friends. As time passed they even became lovers. They were happy in their relationship, indeed, and the Goddess of Love was long forgotten.
That doesn’t mean the Goddess has forgotten them. Aphrodite lingered around the both of them, but never initiated a conversation. She saw how pleased they were with each other, how they stuck together like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Aphrodite couldn’t stand their happiness no longer, her jealousy was at it’s peak.
She set a trap for her prey, all she had to do was set it in place. Aphrodite wrote a note, specifically for the Fox. She slipped the note through his palm, unnoticed, during one of his school days. She saw him unfold her note:
Dear Fox,
It’s been awhile since we’ve spoken, would you like to catch up on current events?
I’ll be waiting for you in your beanbag chair, which might I add is quite comfortable. See you after school!
ღ Goddess of Love, Aphrodite
Aphrodite sped off into his bedroom and waited on the beanbag chair, as said in her note. She waited patiently for the Fox to return from his long day, burst into the room and to sweep her off her feet, but she knew that was very unlikely to happen.
Later in the night, the Fox entered his own bedroom and tossed his bag near his window. He looked up at the Goddess, “What’s up?” Aphrodite straightened, “Did you receive my message?” The Fox nodded, “So what do you want to talk about?”
Her lips curled upward and she quickly moistened them, “Please, allow me to demonstrate.” The Fox looked up at her in confusion; Aphrodite stood from the beanbag chair, grabbed his wrist and shoved him on his bed with his head thudding into the wall. She saw his eyes widen in fear as he scrambled to sit up. Aphrodite strided toward the frightened Fox, sat on crotch and leaned in with their faces almost touching.
The Fox murmured, “What are you-” he was cut off by the touching of her lips against his. Aphrodite pressed her warm body against him as she pulled away for air. She noticed the Fox growing anxious, “Didn’t you want this? You flirted with me first, so it’s time I repay the favor.” Aphrodite leaned in closer, and closer, and continued pressing against his lips. In between kisses the Fox replied heavily, “I can’t do this. I have a girlfriend, she’s asleep in the living room..” Aphrodite pecked him on his freckles and slowly moved down his neck, “She won’t know if she’s at rest.” The Fox closed his eyes, breathed, then nodded. Aphrodite took that as a signal to continue, so she did.
Everything happened in a flash; the heavy breathing, the warmth of their chests together, the kisses. Aphrodite didn’t feel an ounce of regret and didn’t care how the Fox felt at the moment; she was pleased at what she has fought for to get to this moment.

The Fox opened his eyes to the chalky ceiling. He pondered what has become of him the night before. It all happened too fast, in a flash. His heart thumped as he recalled each kiss across his cheek or the heavy breathing as their bodies melded together. The Fox sat up and held his face in his hands. He felt hot tears roll down his cheeks and onto his palms.
Soon he heard his doorknob turn, he raised his head quickly in distress. The Fox tried to cover the resting Goddess next to him with his blankets, but it was to no avail because His Lady saw them both, together.
The Fox’s mouth opened in sorrow as he saw His Lady’s blood drain from her face. His Lady’s eyes squinted as tears rolled down her red cheeks. He saw her shift in the other direction as he quickly screamed while reaching out to her, “Please don’t go it’s not what you think!” She paused, cocked her head to the side, shook it and rushed out of the apartment with tears trailing behind.
The Fox deflated as a wave of depression crashed upon him. He felt warm arms wrap around his collar bone from the behind. He looked out of the corner of his eye and saw the Goddess kissing his shoulders. Even with someone as beautiful as Aphrodite by his side, seducing him, he wished it was His Lady instead because she was much more charming than the black cat looming above him.
The Fox closed his eyes and waited for Aphrodite to finish her game.

The Doe’s tears were blurring her vision as she was storming away from the Ice King’s apartment complex in the rain. The water against her body felt like she was walking through a blizzard of hail, crushing against her spine and skull. She murmured, “I knew that Goddess would betray me like that, I felt it, I felt it the entire time I was with him.”
As the Doe reached closer to her own home she felt her blood boil in the cold. Her fingernails were digging into her palms. The more pressure she applied, the more her palm bled. She kept digging into her palm, causing herself physical pain because she wanted the pain inside her soul to disappear.
She entered her apartment and slumped on her sofa. She held her damaged palm close to her and sighed, “Be careful what you wish for they said,” she closed her eyes, “Because, you’ll never know what you’re going to get…”
The Doe’s world went dark as she fell into a deep, depressing, slumber. . .
