Soon, the elevator doors opened, letting us see the place that would be our home for a week.
"OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS IS AMAZING!" Queen shouted as soon as she stepped out, dropping her luggage in the process.
Everyone had similar expressions when they got inside, it was clear they hadn't ever been. They dispersed around the room, taking a look around. Everyone except the Bazzoli siblings, that were looking at each other while they smiled, their masks still on.
"Anyways... Listen before you disappear" I caught their attention. "The rooms are of 2 people, the girls will go together and the boys have to decide who goes with who. Count me while you do it too, by the way." I sighed.
Everyone ran out of the room as fast as they could, I could almost not see them when they did, not even realising that they had left some of their luggage behind. I rolled my eyes and took a laptop out of my bag, sitting on one of the sofas of the lounge. After a few minutes, the bags and other luggage had already disappeared.
I still had to work on many things for the concert, so I opened my email to contact some of the people in charge of the preparations that were out of my reach. When I did, I saw 129 unread messages in my inbox.
"Ugh... This is going to be a looooong night..."
"Want a coffee then?" A familiar voice startled me.
Nervously, I turned around and saw Jack. He was almost on top of me, slightly leaning forward to look at my laptop's screen. Now, he had taken off his mask and bandages, and as well, he had tied his long hair in a low ponytail.
The tall male laughed softly after seeing my reaction, his lips curving upwards. I felt weird seeing him smiling like that, his emerald eyes were shining in a way that I hadn't seen since I knew him. It was probably the first time I had seen him laugh. But that expression quickly faded into his usual gentle one.
"I will take that as a yes." He said as he turned around and walked off.
I had to think about what he was referring to, until I realised that he meant a coffee. And sincerely, I needed the caffeine.
Soon, Jack returned with a white tray between his hands. He left it on the small table in front of me and grabbed one of the mugs placed on it. He sat by my side sipping it, but judging by the smell coming out of it, his was hot chocolate, not coffee. He sighed and looked at the screen of my laptop, analysing the contents with is emerald eyes.
"I didn't know how you like the coffee so I brought sugar and milk in case you wanted some." He said, his gaze switching from the screen to me.
"Oh, thanks."
I prepared the coffee and took it, drinking a little before leaving it in the table again, returning to my work..
"You look busy." He smiled.
"You have no idea."
"Can I help you with anything? I know how tiresome managing things can get."
"Uh... Give me a second."
I scrolled down my email, trying to find something that he could do. I didn't know anything about him except the things that were in his inform. Since he was a design student I thought he could help Johanna, the fashion designer that was working on their outfits for the concert.
"If I give you her number, can you help the designer to finish with the last things in your concert outfits?" I looked at him hopefully.
"Sure, why not." He replied softly. "Here."
I looked over him to see he had extended his phone towards me. I was pretty unsure but took it anyways. When I switched it on I saw a digital drawing of the whole band with their masks on as background, but what caught my attention was the author's firm; Jacob.
"Did you draw this?" I asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I did it last year." He smiled. "Next time I have to do one with you in it."
"Me?"
"Yeah. You are already part of the band. And the band is like a little messed up family." He patted my head and got up, leaving his mug on the table. "I'm going to bring my tablet, while you are at it, add your number too."
He disappeared in the bedroom hallway, leaving me alone with his phone. I wondered what he had in it, but I didn't want to invade his privacy, less when we were just getting to know as both my client and what I liked to consider a friend.
I quickly added both Johanna Anderson's number and mine before switching the screen off and turning towards my computer.
14 mails later, Jack returned with a tablet and two notebooks. I wanted to ask him about it, but he went ahead of me.
"These are things that will help you with your work. Your father asked me to make them." He handed the notebooks over.
"What is-?"
"Geez just open it." He rolled his eyes before sitting back on the sofa, a small smile on his lips.
I left my laptop on the table and grabbed the notebook with a number 1 on it.
All the information in these pages is confidential and exclusive for Children of Pain's manager.
In the next two pages, was a sketch of the whole group with both their band nicknames and real names. I passed to the next one and two drawings of King, one with and the other without his mask. By their side, in the other page, there was information about said male, ending at least 5 pages later. This went on with everyone, even Jack himself. However, as I had work to do I closed the notebook, thanked him and returned to my laptop.
An hour passed pretty fast, a comfortable silence lingering the whole time, the only sounds present were the mugs, my laptop's keyboard and Jacob's digital pencil touching his tablet's screen while he sketched something unknown for me.
"What's the name of the designer?" Jack's voice startled me.
"J-Johanna Anderson."
"Okay."
"You are going to call her now?"
"Yeah."
"Good luck."
