The next day, we arrived at the expected time. For the first time in my whole life, I'm seeing the palace from up close. It was like a home of a god. A God that surpasses all others. But it had a different feel to it. Not like any horrible aura, but a nice aura because all of the noble mansions I've ever been to have this unwelcoming and unaccepting feel to them. Somehow this one was different. It was the opposite.
A guard came up to me and my family, "Are you Sir Amarika Val?" he asked.
"Yes, I am." I replied, "I'm also with my family just like I've been asked to."
"Well then please follow me I should lead the four of you to Her Majesty's chambers."
We nodded.
As we followed him, I couldn't help but notice the translucent, starry-like night ceiling- although it was just a decoration. Walking on the marble floor felt strange. It made me feel as though I don't belong here because it was so beautiful and clean, unlike my home it wasn't as rich. There were many paintings of previous Kings and Queens. The lady in charge currently is Queen Leviathan.
She's an amazing Queen- or so I heard. Apparently, she's trying to change this country so that everyone has equal rights, a roof to sleep under, nice food, warm clothes and lastly hope. She doesn't want anyone to have to live in poor conditions like us; in despair and corruption. Usually, as I explained, people who live like me fall into despair, but also some of them become corrupted. They'll do anything to gain money, like being a simple slave to a thief to a murderer. I'm actually glad my family and I aren't like that otherwise we wouldn't be so close....
Soon we arrived. We were now in the presence of Queen Leviathan. I knelt down (along with mum, dad and Leo) to show her my respect.
"Please rise." her voice sounding angelic and smooth.
As I stood up, I glanced at Queen Leviathan to see what she looked like. She had crystal-blue eyes, pale white skin, a warm smile and ice-blue hair. As any normal Queen would, she was wearing a gown with snowflake patterns.
"Thank you for coming Sir-"
"Please, just call me Rika Your Majesty." I mentioned.
"Oh, okay Rika!" she smiled, "Anyways thanks for coming. I know that was a sudden request and you still might be confused so let me explain the current situation."
I nodded despondently. I didn't really want to attend the Academy, but I can't defy the orders from Her Royal Highness.
"As it said in the letter, you will be attending Herthia Heritage High. You're probably wondering why I have chosen you of all people to attend. Well, that is because out of all the people I see you are the one that stands out of all of them just like a single shooting star that attracts all of the other people's attention. Also, you have potential and I've noticed that. You're special Rika." she smiled.
"But Queen Leviathan." I started, "Who will pay for all the tuition fees. It's an expensive school for high-ranking nobles after all!"
"Oh, don't worry about all of the expenses." she approached me, "I've got them all covered!"
"And also, I'm a child of the sluts, I doubt you can take me to such school when I'm not even from a high-ranking family."
"Amarika!" Queen Leviathan shouted, "This is my choice. I'm the one who decided you should attend, and I am the one who will be paying for you!"
"Wait it'll be you...?" I repeated.
"Yes. And I've already payed for this term, so you should accept unless you want to do something else to repay the debt?" she glared at me.
"No..." I looked up, "But still why should I attend a school when I don't even want to!?"
She flinched. It seemed that my words have finally reached that thick head of hers.
"So, you're saying you don't need to learn anything, and you already know how to fight proper battles?"
"Yes!"
"Fine prove it to me by fighting my oldest son."
Queen Leviathan turned around and called the name Lucas. Suddenly a young handsome guy appeared right in front of me. Unlike his mother, he had grass-green eyes and forest-green hair and had a serious look to his face.
"So, you're telling me to fight him?" he smirked.
"Yes."
"Okay mum." he turned to me, "So if you lose to me that means you'll join the Academy. However, if you are to win you can do whatever you wish. Is that alright?"
"Yeah, I guess. Good enough but just to let you know," I menaced, "I won't lose to a weakling like you."
"How dare you-"
Queen Leviathan stepped in and stopped the argument and instead told us to begin the battle. The rules are simple- we can use any tactic we want if we don't harm each-other severely. And so, the action began. I didn't really use my power. I just used the martial arts I have learnt myself using my blade of souls. Slowly everything was getting heated up until I just stopped playing around with my prey. Out of nowhere, I finished it all. It was game over and I won. I looked down at the idiot who dared to challenge me. Honestly, he gained my whole respect except that- it was still hard not to pity him.
"I... I lost...." he looked down at the floor in melancholy.
"Yes, you did." I looked down at him, "So that means I don't have to attend the school?"
"You don't..." Queen Leviathan answered.
"Well then that's good." I took some steps backwards to my family, "Let's go now."
But they didn't follow.
"Rika...." mum started, "I think you should attend!"
In all faithfulness I was confounded. I never thought my parents would say that.
"I agree with your mother Rika." dad continued, "Go and fulfill your dreams Rika and don't worry about us. We'll manage after all we can't always rely on you to do everything for us."
"Yeah! Rika you need to go!" Leo exclaimed.
"But-"
"No buts!" they all shouted.
Astonishment. Astonishment was all I felt. Then I thought to myself-
Why don't I attend the school? Won't it give me a chance to help start a new life for us if I do? It'll help my family won't it? Soon I came to a decision, "Fine I shall attend Hertia Heritage High..."
"Yes!"
"But only on one condition."
"What would that one condition be?" the Queen asked.
"As long as you keep my family safe, I'll keep on attending."
"Of course!" she exclaimed.
In the end it was decided that I'll attend Herthia Heritage High starting on Monday.
