When she awoke, it was in someone's arms. She looked around frantically, her breathing erratic. Where was she?
"Oh, hello there!"
Time looked up. It was that tall skeleton again. She frowned. What was his name again? Oh, right. Papyrus.
Papyrus grinned at her. "Hello again, small skeleton! You fell asleep again."
Time blinked at him. "For how long?" she croaked.
Papyrus scratched his skull with his free hand. "Hmm, about six or seven hours."
Time blanched. Even dad didn't sleep this much.
But then she had a sudden thought. Who's dad? Who's my father?
She racked her brain, trying to remember something. But when she tried to recall what happened, a month ago, or two weeks ago, there was nothing. Only darkness. It frightened her.
Papyrus jostled her gently. "Um, are you alright, small skeleton? You look rather... pale."
Time touched her skull self consciously. Aren't all skeletons pale, though?
"Here, Paps, lemme hold her." the other brother, what was his name? Sans.
Papyrus handed Time off gently to his brother. Sans cradled her like a baby, smiling down at her. "Hey there, remember us?"
Time looked around the house. She was in a room that looked and smelled like the kitchen. The tiled floor radiated the smell of dead fish for some reason.
She shivered noticeably, and her bones rattled quietly. Sans frowned. "You cold? I could get you a blanket if you want,"
Time's teeth started chattering, despite the fact that she was not cold. Sans walked over to the room with the TV and got a green blanket that was draped over the couch. He sat and reclined on the couch and set Time down gently, and wrapped the blanket around her.
He chuckled as she clutched the blanket around her. She stared into his eye-sockets. They were friendly and warm, but a hint of sadness in them as well.
"You comfy?" Sans shifted on the couch. Without waiting for a response, he yelled over his shoulder at his brother. "Hey bro! When's dinner ready?"
Time heard the clash of metal pots and pans banging together. "Be patient, brother! It will be ready soon!"
Sans smiled and rolled his eyes heartily. He sighed and reached over his head behind him over the armrest of the couch. "Want a pillow?" Again, without waiting for a response, he tossed the pillow at Time, saying, "think fast!" as he did so.
Her eyes widened, and time seemed to slow. She was used to threats and people throwing things, but this was new. Her soul pulled her up from the couch and launched her over to the floor in front of the TV, a small gasp escaping her mouth.
Her soul stopped thumping, and returned to a normal speed. She blinked, and the trance was broken. She saw the pillow the skeleton had tossed her way land lightly on the spot she had been previously been sitting in, and Sans' head swung around, resting on Time as he saw her.
"H-how'd you do that...?" he whispered. He sat up and swung his legs down. "Y-you were there just a second ago, and, well-now you're there. How'd you do that?"
Time looked down at her hands, and cringed in pain. He said not to use magic, Time thought in horror. He punished us for using it.
A tall skeleton with glasses flashed before her flaring eyes. You disobeyed me, subject T1m5. You will be visited by the P.A.8 tomorrow as punishment.
And that awful feeling that was filling her up now came back. She had disobeyed him, and she would pay dearly and severely.
Time was thinking this as Sans slowly got up from his place on the couch and crept toward her cautiously, his eyes glowing faintly blue.
"Hey, you alright? It's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you," Sans slowly held out a hand in a peace offering. Time looked deep into his eyes. She could sense no malice in them, or danger, or pain.
She grasped his hand with a shaky hand. "I trust you," she whispered. Sans smiled at her encouragingly. He slipped both of his hands under her and lifted her up easily.
He plopped back down on the couch and set Time down gently, sighing as he reached for the TV remote, but sadly, it was on the coffee table, and he couldn't reach it from his position.
Time reached forward and handed Sans the remote, giggling.
"Hey, thanks, kiddo." Sans said, patting her skull.
He pressed a button, and the TV flared to life. Sans flicked through the channels one by one, until it seemed he had glimpsed each of the shows in the Underground.
He sighed, then settled on a channel with....people fighting each other? Time didn't question him.
A while passed, and there was a loud and harsh knock on the door, making them both jump. "Sans! Papyrus!" a muffled voice yelled through the door. Without waiting to see if the voice could come in, they stepped through the door, stomping off the snow on their black boots.
"Hey, G." Sans said, glancing at the tall skeleton in the doorway. The skeleton was holding a briefcase, and had a lab coat on....and glasses.
Time almost fainted as the skeleton's gaze swept to her.
He's come for me....
