Time seemed to fly in detention thankfully and the time to go home rolled right to Kath's feet which means she's free for now. The drive home was intense, the tension could be sliced in two with a spoon like ice cream. It was horrible, the side gaze of your loving mother, the guilt of punching the guy and the aching throbbing in your knuckles. Kath was in full shit now wasn't she? The car stopped for a red light which Kath knew meant she could get hard stares from her upset mother. She loved the woman yes but the gaze boring into the side of her face was enough to make her skin feel like a bubbling pot of broth, she was now just waiting for someone to grab her cheek and pull the soft and gross skin away from her bare bone.
"Why'd you punch him Katherine?" When Jonas used Kath's full name it meant she was not having any of it.
"He called me a dyke.."
"Still doesn't give you any reason to sock him in the nose," she sighed "anyway he's in hospital with a broken nose."
"Do you even know what a dyke is?"
"Yes and I've been called it plenty of times back in highschool."
"He deserved it anyway…"
"Kath please don't make this hard."
"I'm not trying to."
The car rolled forward as the lights changed. The tense ride began again.
