"Hello boys! I have arrived!" I threw my hands in the air, smiling brightly at the two scientists who didn't even spare me a glance.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"Oh sorry, didn't realize I walked into the lab of the brothers dim." I walked in, hopping up onto an empty table.
"Ria my darling, in case you didn't notice, I happen to be operating on a dead body currently." Tim said, continuing to sew together the limbs of different corpses.
I rolled my eyes.
"You're not performing open heart surgery Timothy dear, they were dead when you found them."
I looked at the youngest brother who was working next to me, mixing chemicals for who knows what.
"What's tall, dark and silent up to then?"
"He's making what we need to bring this nice fellow to life!" He beamed, patting the dead body on the shoulder as if it was an old friend of his.
I looked at him for a moment.
"At what age did you find out that you were a sociopath with a fascination for reanimation?" I asked plainly.
"Hmm, I think about 7." Tim answered distractedly.
"Ah yes, the age that you started bringing me into your sick little games." The more silent brother, Chemy said.
"You were interested in these things before!" Tim argued, looking up from his dead friend.
"No brother mine, I was interested in science. This is borderline alchemy!"
"And now you do both! Congratulations my dear brother! I am rather proud of you, you talented boy." Tim continued stitching up the body.
Chemy rolled his eyes, and I laughed.
They put clothes on their new friend.
Well, only a shirt, because for some reason his lower half was made up of tentacles.
I thought it best not to ask.
"So, what's your new friend's name?" I asked, hopping off the counter to stand next to the brothers as they prepped their new friend for life.
"I was thinking Monty." Tim said.
"Monty? Why Monty? It's so plain." Chemy said
"Well do you have a better name?"
"I could come up with a better name than Monty."
"Your name is Chemy."
"A nickname you gave me!"
Tim paused for a moment.
"touché brother touché."
Chemy poured whatever it was into the creature's mouth, and Tim pulled the switch.
A machine connected to the ceiling sent electrical shocks through the body.
After a few minutes, they stopped and the one eye of Monty started to blink open.
"Hello there." He spoke in a soft voice.
I shook my head in disbelief, they had done it again.
I looked around for a moment, taking it all in.
The strange monster on the table.
The two mad scientists I call my best friends.
And I thought to myself that maybe with friends like these, life wasn't so bad.
