I had a conversation with my mum. It was a very serious conversation. So serious, I believe I must document it.
MUM: Circe, we need to have a very serious conversation.
ME: Fire away.
MUM: your teacher tells us that she thinks you may be having a bit of trouble at school.
ME: Mum, you saw my marks. I'm doing fine. 'Z-' is the best mark you can get!
MUM: no, she thinks you may be having trouble making friends.
ME: since when?
MUM: well, about a month ago, we got a letter from her, telling us that she was worried about you when you refused to work in a group for your biology project, and that you have been showing 'antisocial behaviour'. That is why I am so glad that Riley moved in when she did. I have invited her to stay the night this weekend.
And that is how I became the unwilling host of a witchy slumber party.
