Short-stories from the Crystal Age

The Prophecy

The Prophecy

Dec 12, 2018

"In the beginning, there were the Seven: seven brothers, seven sorcerers, seven gods.

The seven lived in the void, they were all that existed.

Some say they were one that was tired of being alone;

others say they always existed...

They were the source, the power, and the magic.

The Seven decided to play a game.

They called the game: CREATION.

The first was Ormuz, he made a mantle of darkness and covered the Void.

Hiriud, painted in the mantle with his light; he made the Sun and the stars.

Elemn, made the Moon, the planets and Alarhon. In Alarhon, he created water and made the water cover the planet.

Only seven portions of the land remained dry: The Seven Continents.

Yllian, organized the light and darkness and she made the day and night. And put the Everything in motion.

Anhimus, created life. He invented all kinds of plants and all of the animals.

He distributed them:

in the water,

in the land,

in the sky.

He allowed them to mate and populate Alarhon.

Monathez, was the dreamer,

He wanted to create a perfect being; beautiful like his brothers.

So, he created a creature that had the same form that he and his brothers had.

He called his creation: MAN. And their offspring was the humanity.

Erthoz, hated it, to him that humanity was a sad joke: a blasphemy.

A toy without purpose.

So, he created DEATH.

An invisible and omnipresent creature so powerful, that would subdue every single one of the new creatures and make the man kneel, before the god's superiority.

The creation was done, and they liked what they did.

Hiriud was the stronger of the brothers: so he became their leader.

It was his decision to live among the humans that they created. It was their duty: to guide, to teach, and to protect them for eternity.

Seven towers were built: one for each portion of the land that existed.

One for each of the Seven, and Seven continents were named.

But, Monathez was sad, he loved mankind and he wanted to protect it from Erthoz creation.

So, he robbed his bothers and gave to men the power of the crystals.

The secret power of his brothers: he gave to men the gift of MAGIC.

Erthoz, was the one that found out about the robbery.

He got angry, it was unacceptable. Mankind could not be allowed to have such power.

He went after his brother in his tower and confronted him; accused him of treason.

Monathez, did not want to hear his bother...

He asked his bother to leave.

So, Erthoz stabbed Monathez in the heart with a blade.

The blade that got red with Monathez's blood:

"The Crimson Blade"

And that land became cursed.

But, Erthoz's curse was strong and it would someday reach the other six lands.

Hiriud, became furious: he blamed the men for the tragedy.

If was humanity's fault for accepting a gift, that it was not theirs by right.

All of mankind would have to pay for the life of his lost brother.

Forever...

So, they ruled mankind with tyranny: demanding tributes and sacrifices from the top of their Crystal Towers.

They made temples and created seven religious orders, that would control mankind from now on.

Magic became forbidden outside the temple of the gods.

The punishment for using magic was: death.

Only those, that served the gods and were chosen by them, could use magic.

The brothers got isolated one from the other and from humanity, to be never seen again.

Soon after, Erthoz's plague struck, and the sickness began to claim victims and to spread all over Alarhon.

The sorcerers did nothing; to them, mankind was receiving their just punishment, for their sins against the gods.

Humanity grew sick, oppressed and weak.

But, one day a man will rise.

This man will conquer The Crimson Blade and change the destiny of all humanity:

A MAN WITHOUT A SOUL."

(popular tale sung by bards and teached in every school in the six continents of Alarhon)
