To start things off: the twins finally got here! It was a bit unreal to see them again, let alone at a place outside of dad's job, but I’m still ecstatic that they’re here!
Dad picked them up really early in the morning, like at dawn. Why dad? Why won’t you let me sleep in on weekends? Anyway, we spent most of the day settling them into our house, showing them around, and just making sure they were overall comfortable. But while we were unpacking their clothes, I noticed that their entire wardrobe consists of things like pressed shirts or polo pants. It was as if they were ready to go to any and all family occasions at all times. I mean, yeah, I do dress nice too — but it’s the semi-casual dress code of the school demands, I will dress in my loose-fitting merch t-shirts and baggy jeans when I feel like it. The twins don’t even have that option!
I pointed this out to dad and we decided to go shopping so that they can pick out their own clothes. Their taste - how should I put this? Is all over the place. We went to a thrift store, so the twins basically just grabbed what they liked, Jekyll —
I should mention that dad and his team named them something else for stuff like hospital or school records, but I keep forgetting what their new names are, and they insist that I keep calling them “Jekyll and Hyde”, so imma keep doing that.
Anyway, one of the things that Jekyll picked out was a navy blue trench coat that was three times his size and had, like, 16 pockets. Another weird thing was this white shirt that was covered in rubber ducks that looked petrified, some canvas pants that was saggy at the waist but slimmed down towards the calves and snugged around the ankles, and a wide brim hat that covered his face and was clearly to big for him.
Hyde was just as crazy with the clothes, he picked out this one blazer that had a plant pattern on some parts of it, and bronze buttons that were placed along the outer brim of the collar and pockets. He also grabbed this sweater with a pattern that looked like it was meant for a rug, and he also grabbed this green long sleeve dress, which was when I found out that they didn’t grow up with gender marketing. It was honestly a bit hilarious seeing dad trying to explain why Hyde couldn’t get the dress. We ended up getting the dress, turns out Hyde’s very persuasive.
But seeing how insane their wardrobe was getting, I had to tell them about the school's dress code and that they had to pick more simplistic clothes. Though, I mostly said that to save them from the ridicule at the hands of the other students. That’s when I noticed that there were some methods to the madness, if the clothing was comfortable, breathable, and “useful” (i.e. deep pockets) they’d pick that. After talking about school policy, their choices toned down a bunch and they would ask me for approval, it was a superb moment.
Jekyll seemed to have more taste in decorative pattern tops than Hyde, but my personal favorite that the two picked were these turtle-neck red and black thick striped sweaters, Jekyll’s was black-red-black, etc. and Hyde’s was red-black-red, etc. I feel like, out of all the clothes they picked, those sweaters matched with them the most.
They also brought combat boots. I don’t know why, out of everything they picked, the boots are what rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it’s because their they're lab babies and I don’t want them to turn out to be mutant-made psychic weapon soldiers or something? But if that’s what they are, then why send them to a school full of children — let alone out in the public?
Anyway, after shopping, we stayed at home for the rest of the day and they slept with me in my room for most of the night. Their room was basically ready, it just needed those weird advanced beds, which came late into the night, actually. I woke up to the sound of Dad and five other people coming in and out of the house to assemble those weird bed pods that the twins sleep in. They were doing this around 3 in the morning and it was clear that they didn’t want anyone seeing anything. Everything was covered and I was only able to tell that they were assembling those bed pods because I got a glimpse of the frame while I was peeking, and I recognized the sound of them when they turned them on. I was scared to get caught so I pretended to be asleep when dad came and took them to their bed pods, on time too because Hyde’s breathing was getting a little heavy.
Anyway, it’s almost five, I couldn’t sleep after that so I decided to write in here but I’m getting tired and I should try and get some sleep before school.
