A/N: this chapter talks about mental illness so be prepared
Taeshin opened his eyes, expecting to see the younger boy sleeping on him as he had done the night before. He briefly panicked when he realized he was wrong, and his chest was replaced with the feelings of cold and loneliness.
Eunky was gone.
He sat up quickly, looking around the room in confusion. His eyes landed on a piece of folded paper next to him. He furrowed his eyebrows as he picked up the small paper and opened it.
"Had to go to work, will text you when I get out. -EunEun xoxo" He smiled at the small note, his cheeks reddening a bit at the 'xoxo'. He sighed contently as he put the note back on the pillow and got off of his bed.
He walked into the kitchen with a large smile, seeing Daemin and Donghyu sitting at the kitchen table. "Morning." He sung out in a peppy tone, sitting down across from Donghyu. Both of the older men had gloomy looks on their faces.
"Why do you both look so down?" Taeshin asked, squinting his eyes at the two boys. Taeshin was the only one in the entire house who seemed cheerful and happy, which made him feel slightly uneasy. He tried to shrug it off however, not able to clearly focus on anything else other than knowing that Eunky was finally his.
Daemin sighed and looked over to Donghyu, who nodded with sad eyes. Daemin's face showed sadness and grief, which made the pit in Taeshin's stomach grow just a bit bigger.
"Taeshin..." Daemin's voice trailed off. His tone was harsh yet soft at the same time, leaving Taeshin in a state of confusion. "What?" He chuckled, not knowing how to react at the intense mood.
Daemin let out a shaky breath as he slid the newspaper he was holding across the table to the confused boy. Taeshin's eyes widened in horror as he read the article title in bold letters at the top of the paper.
Famous Korean singer, Lee Eunky, died in a car accident early this morning.
Taeshin shook his head, not believing what he had just read. "N-no..." He trailed off, looking up at the two boys with doubtful eyes. Donghyu bit his lip, trying to fight back the tears that threatened to spill down his cheeks.
"Tae." He spoke in a hoarse voice, his voice cracking slightly. "D-did you ever get weird looks while you were out with Eunky?" Taeshin choked back a sob, thinking back to the cashier and the old woman at the park.
"Yes but what does that have to do with this?" His voiced filled with anger, still not believing that his lover was gone. "Taeshin. I..." Daemin coughed, swallowing back the need to cry out. He closed his eyes, a stoic look flashed over his face as he muttered the words that ripped Taeshin apart.
"Eunky wasn't real."
In that moment, Taeshin felt every single cell in his entire body fill with fire and burn. His lungs and throat burned with the need to scream, his wrists burned with the need to be cut. He entire body burned as it shattered in front of his two best friends.
Taeshin stared at the male, his face going red from anger. He stood up so fast his chair fell backwards, slamming on the ground with a loud 'thump'. "Yes he fucking is!" He yelled, not bothering to control his emotions.
"You imagined him!" Donghyu yelled back, tears down pouring down his face. "Y-you have Erotomania and Schizophrenia!"
Taeshin felt as if all of the bones in his body had broken at once, and that all the blood was being poured from him as he stood there, shaking. He tried to compare it to when he was seven, and how he had almost drowned until his big brother pulled him out of the water. His entire body felt as if it was floating, and he was unable to save himself.
"I-I what?" He asked, his voice breaking on the last word. He felt himself start to crumble. Piece by piece, as the seconds passed, he felt more and more of himself slip away.
"You're delusional. You imagined him being there with you, talking to you, but it was all in your head." Daemin explained in a quiet voice. The room filled with silence as Taeshin felt something in him snap. It was like a switch. He felt maniacal and psychotic thoughts fill his head as he processed what he was being told.
He didn't know what it was, but it felt like he didn't experience emotion anymore. He didn't feel sad or angry, just numb. It felt as if his brain had shut down completely. He was slowly going insane.
"Even the texts?" He whispered, feeling his knees give out as he fell to the floor. Daemin and Donghyu shared a worried glance with each other, before turning back to the boy huddling on the ground.
"A-at first... it was us. We just tried messing with you. Then you said you actually met him and we-" Daemin was cut off by an ear piercing scream coming from the boy on the floor.
"N-no, he's real! My EunEun is real and he's alive. W-we just cuddled last night. He even left me a-" Taeshin widened his eyes in realization. He quickly jumped to his feet and ran to his room, bursting through the door.
He ran to the bed, out of breath. He felt his heart shatter even more as he looked to the place where he had left the paper.
The note was gone.
A sob left Taeshin's lips as he fell to the floor again, getting his phone from his pocket. He went to his and 'Eunky's' conversation, and sure enough, everything was gone except for the first time they had texted.
Everything that had happened in the past week had been a lie, a story played out only in Taeshin's mind. All of the texts, touches, meet ups, they were all fake.
"I-I'm not insane." He sobbed out, releasing his grip on his cell phone. His body shook as tears poured down his cheeks, leaving thin wet trails behind.
He felt his throat close completely as a single thought crossed his mind. He felt his entire body rush with adrenaline as he got to his feet once again, this time with a face of pure hatred.
It was Daemin and Donghyu's fault.
Taeshin did give Eunky his number, that was real. But he wasn't actually texting the real Eunky. He was a part of a sick prank pulled by his 'best friends'. If they hadn't had acted as Eunky, Taeshin wouldn't have gone insane and become delusional.
He stomped to the kitchen, practically seething. Daemin and Donghyu were both crying as they looked to Taeshin, who scowled at both of them. Donghyu's face was red and tear stained, his hair going off in different directions as he had pushed it back so much. Daemin's eyes were filled with regret, looking at Taeshin as if he was begging for forgiveness.
"This was a sick little prank huh?!" Taeshin screamed, his voice booming throughout the small house. Donghyu winced before letting a small sob escape his lips. The intensity of Taeshin's words filled the air like a smoke bomb, making it almost impossible to breath.
"Did you make up being able to see him too, huh Jin?" Taeshin yelled again, a look of dread washing over the older males face. "Taeshin I didn't know what to-"
"I don't give a fuck! You..you.." Taeshin hesitated for a moment, thoughts filling his mind as to why this was happening to him. "EunEun is alive! And he does love me! You're probably just telling me this to split us apart." He yelled once more, his voice louder and angrier than ever.
"You just want EunEun to yourself! Well, you can't have him. He loves me. Only me!" Taeshin lost control of his entire body as he ran towards the kitchen drawer where the utensils were held.
Donghyu screamed and dialed the police with his cell phone, knowing what was going to happen. Daemin stayed at the table, sobbing, unaware of what Taeshin was about to do. All he could focus on was that he made his best friend go insane, possibly even suicidal.
Taeshin opened the drawer and pulled out a long knife, one usually used for cutting meat. He smiled wickedly before running towards Daemin and knocking him off of his chair and to the floor. Donghyu screamed again, loud sobs leaving his lips as he told the operator where they lived.
"EunEun loves me. Nobody else. He'll never loved anybody else!"
Taeshin screamed again, laughing hysterically afterwards. Daemin struggled to hold his arm up, in fear of getting stabbed. Taeshin was too strong however, and managed to plunge the knife into Daemin's shoulder.
A loud scream was heard from Jin, crying out in pain as the blood gushed from his wound. Taeshin swallowed harshly, not knowing that tears were flowing down his reddened cheeks. He couldn't feel them however, since his body was floating far above where he sat atop of Jin. He couldn't feel anything, no regret or pain for stabbing one of his only friends. He only felt numb.
Suddenly, he felt a dull object hit the back of his head before he fell to the floor with a 'thud'. He felt the world go black as one thought and one thought only crossed his mind.
EunEun is mine.
A/N: So. Surprise?
