“Holy shit, you’re a guy?”
“Is this really the best time for that?” Sora rhetorically pressed.
As our exhausted breaths drained heavily of life, we ran on tenterhooks side by side for our lives. We were printing through the Jungle in an attempt to evade our unknown assailant.
“Who are we running away from?” He yelled.
“I don’t know,” I shouted in response. The wind barked loudly in the drums of our ears as we cut through it at lightning speed. But with all our efforts, it was not enough.
“I think we’re about to find out.” I rejoined.
Two horses, one on each side, came out of nowhere and started galloping behind us. Gaining momentum at rapid speed, I felt the urgency of despair wash over me.
I see two riders of muscular built.
But then again what do I know right?
With weapons in hand, surely it’s a matter of time before they catch up to us. And by the looks of it, they don’t seem too interested in having a chat.
“Sora, how much do you weigh?”
“What kind of question is that?” He baffled giving the circumstances.
“Sora… Just answer the damn question.” I impatiently demanded.
Sora drew quick breaths then shouted out, “125 LB.”
Okay, good.
I can see them catching up to us. Then out of nowhere, a spear!
Everything is different once I activate my powers, times slow down and I am constantly being faced with life-altering decisions. Accelerating at the right time, I was able to snatch the incoming spike and catapult it back to the right, knocking the rider off his horse.
I immediately picked up Sora in my arms and whirlwind out of there. It was the first time for me to speed jump or ‘glimpse’ with another individual. The experience was surreal, and I could tell by the expression on his face, that it left Sora discombobulated. My times almost up. But if I could just get a bit farther away from them, then maybe we can…
What’s that?
I halted at the incoming threat but found it too late a warning.
By the time I realized what had happened, I had lost my balance and we were now fumbling to the ground. We were knocked over by an unsuspecting figure. Before I knew it there was a foot swooping in at my face. I grabbed it and tossed our attacker aside.
“Sora…?” I called out to him as I warily looked around me. He was okay and got to his feet and drew closer behind me.
“I’m alright,” He assured me.
As our attacker and we took a firm stance from the ground. I pulled ahead of signaling Sora to stay back.
“Who are you? We don’t want any trouble!” I mitigated.
It slowly and quietly unveiled two swords from behind.
I got in defense position.
“Tell that to the people you’ve hurt!”
And it attacked!
I lie in bed, oh sleepless night
what can I do, but start a fight,
Come drown me now, Come kill my soul
My entire life's an empty hole,
