April 26, 1986

A catastrophic event has accured at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant nerby the city of Pripyat' in northern Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Four hundred times more radioactive material was released from the explosion of No. 4 reactor than by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Soon after, massive radioactive cloud has formed and was moving across the globe.

September 27, 1986

USA. 1.5 million air balloons were released from Cleveland's Public Square during the Balloonfest '86, setting the world record. The balloons drifted back over the city, Lake Erie, and land in the surrounding area. They caused problems for traffic and a nearby airport.

October 3-12, 1986

The first cases of baloon suffocation were registered. Victims were found with air baloons stretched over their heads. Coroners stated that in all cases the death accured during the sleep. Wide investigatinon was unraveled.

October 13, 1986

Autorities made an official statement conidering the fact of the baloon suffocation victims bodies disapearance. The relatives of deceised were promissed compensations in case if the bodies won't be found.

October 16, 1986

New cases of baloon suffocation have accured. At the same time, numerous repports of people being assaulted by weird behaving attackers were registered.

By the descriptions of eyewitneses, the faces of attackers were destorted, as if some thin membrane was covering them and their movements and actions felt... unnatural.

October 23, 1986

One of the misterious attackers was caught py police forces. Immediately the person was delivered to the medical institution for examination, the results of which were made public to satify the increasing demand of masses for explanations.

The examination revealed shocking facts. Vital forces of the subject, and brain activity in particular, were highly suppressed. Basicaly, the person was fomaly dead, and all the functionality of the organism was supported by the membranous parasitic organism that used human body as a host. People were adviced to keep calm and wait for further announcements.

The weirdest, not explained part of the study was, though, сoncealed form the public. The closer analysis of the membranous matter showed that it was made out of rubber. But the weird structural elements, similar to a mix of elecric circuitry and a biological neuron network were dicowered within the body of the parasite, suggesting basic levels of intelligent organisation. Moreover, abnormaly high levels of radiation were measured, being emmited from the parasite.

The attemp to separate the parasite from the host led to the immediate and compleat biolodical death of the former. The parasite, on the other hand, was able to sustain life on it's one for 3 days, during which some valuable observations were made. As, for example, the organism showed the ability yo transportation. In order to moove in space, the the special muscle-like strands situated on the edge of the body sheeth, were contracting, thus closing the edge and forming a sack-like structure. Then special organels within the membrane start to produce helium gas, filling the inner space and creating positive pressure within, effectively turning the parasite into an air baloon, that then could be mooved around drifting on a wind.

November, 1986

The autorities supplied every citizen with a high-level radiation indicator with 10m perception radius. The military troops are patroling the streets. The rumours spread about the hords of baloonheads roaming on the streets. Clouds of baloon parasites are following them tied by the string.
