223 ticks of silence passed before being halted by J-71 requesting something highly unusual for a builder, “Tell me about yourself.”
X-87 was simply dumbfounded that this already incredibly strange Builder would even consider asking such a thing of a War Fighter. So they thought they would just make sure that was what they heard. “I’m sorry, what was that you just said?”
“I requested that you tell me about yourself”
They did ask that! Builders don’t ask that! They never do! “Why do you want that info?”
J-71 looked away from their work for the first time since they started, and began maintaining visual contact with X-87. They then delivered the words. “My tasks would be carried out with much higher efficiency rates if you did not question every one of my requests.” Then promptly returned to the wiring of their junction box.
X-87 for but a moment thought that J-71 was attempting intimidation, but remembering that this was a builder that said this, made them realize that this was probably not the case. “I suppose that makes sense,” they said in submission, “Do you want it from the beginning or do you have another preference?”
“Whichever you prefer is acceptable,” J-71 replied calmly.
“Very well,” said X-87, forcing a note of excitement. “I first touched down and activated, near C-45’s mega armory. I discovered my talent for tracking when I successfully tracked one of the builders ground reconnaissance drones back to their lab over the course of several cycles. Shortly after I followed the drone inside said builder’s armory, C-45 submitted a complaint to the Great Alliance saying that a War Fighter they had never seen before with the markings X-87 was rummaging through their things and harassing their drones. The Alliance immediately sent a few War Fighters to collect me and have C-45 analyze my behavior to find a suitable position for working. And so they found that I kept on the drones’ tail regardless of how much distance they gained ahead of me after losing me.”
Even with all of the new chatter, J-71 found that they were still agitated. Not by the fact that there still weren't as many voices as they would like, but the fact that the information they were receiving was completely and utterly useless to them. Even more so than they had initially calculated. J-71 was relieved that their work was almost complete.
X-87 had noticed that not even J-71’s radio antenna was not oriented to an observing position. This agitated them greatly. “Are you even listening J-71?”
“You activated nearby C-45 and the Great Alliance hired you as a tracker. This is the summary. Correct me if I'm wrong.”
X-87 became agitated again. “That's right, but that was a very upsetting remark!”
“What part upset you,” J-71 asked without looking away from their almost complete work.
“Your attitude! You're always so infuriating!”
“Well, at least we have the same opinions of each other.” J-71's monotone voice could not transfer the agitation that they were experiencing.
“Why should you be agitated with me?! What have I done to deserve such a thing as this?!”
“I ask you to talk about yourself and you wasted 523 ticks in the process of giving me 2 points of information. Give me a reason not to be angry.”
“Its Storytelling 101-”
J-71 interrupted. “I have anti-need for your methods of ‘storytelling’. Give me the summary.”
“You know what!” X-87 picked up a nearby storage cube. “DON'T INTERRUPT ME!!” They then threw the cube at J-71 at full force.
Caught off guard, J-71 was struck by the cube. They lost their grip on the roof plates with 6 of their limbs leaving the other 4 unable to support their immense weight. J-71's side collided with the ground in less time than it would take to prepare oneself for such a landing. The noise that vibrated throughout the structure was massively loud.
