Isra and Corwyn teleport back into Corwyn's neighborhood, which is now showing the early signs of day. The two are giddy, holding hands and swinging them between each other, this is their moment.
They walk back to Corwyn's house and Corwyn is about to turn the knob when the door bursts open. Corwyn nearly falls into the person who opens the door if not for Isra grabbing him. The two boys are no longer holding hands, and they realize that Adelaide is the one who opened the door, and she doesn't appear happy.
"Corwyn get in the house now."
It feels like a bucket of cold water has been poured on them, their loving moment gone. "Mom—"
"Don't argue with me, I will talk to you after I'm done with this. Inside. Now."
Corwyn spares a look back at Isra who gives a slight nod before Corwyn hands his head down and moves past his mother inside.
"I let you into this home, forgave you for your ill manners, forgave you for everything, and you go and do this? You go and kidnap my son for a second time?" Isra opens his mouth to speak but she keeps going. "You two left and didn't come back. What am I supposed to think? I know nothing about you. My son knows nothing about you. You're just some man who came across him one day and thought that he was a willing victim since no one else wanted him." Isra gives a slight head shake. He would never do that to Corwyn. "You saw him as a target. You knew he would do whatever you wanted, didn't you?"
Isra sees Corwyn's face behind his mother, and he sees from Corwyn's face that he's believing what she's saying. "No, no. Corwyn, I would never—"
"Don't speak to him!" Isra is frightened by the look on Adelaide's face. Her eyes rimmed red, hair disheveled. "Leave. Don't come back, or I will have you arrested."
Isra is breathing heavily, he never knew that things would end like this. He takes one step back, two, he looks at Corwyn, one last time, sees the tears running down his face.
Isra turns around and runs.
The rain is pouring down on Isra but he continues running. Adelaide is right. He needs to stay away from Corwyn. Isra is the God of Chaos, he's brought nothing but pain and suffering to many people for centuries. Now he's done it to the man he loves. He never meant to bring Corwyn any harm. Never meant to ruin the relationship he had with his family. He was only trying to fulfill a prayer, and yet he's managed to screw even that up.
Isra doesn't know for how long he's been running for, but he collapses unwillingly underneath a bridge. He's panting, his breathing shaky, barely able to register the sharp pulsing radiating through his body, all he can register is the stabbing pain going through his heart. He wipes his nose with his hand, and when he brings it back he sees blood. His vision is blurry, the edges of his vision turning black, but he swears he sees the image in front of him perfectly.
A woman, curly black hair framing her face, approaches, She crouches down in front of Isra, placing her arms on her knees. "Oh brother, look at you."
