I couldn't decide where to end "Freedom" and so here's an extra scene of where the story was heading...
Corwyn is in college now, part-time, and living on his own in an apartment. His family was fine after he came out to his mother, and they supported him in his choice to move out. He never explained what happened with Isra to them, he didn't know how to, but they knew not to bring it up.
Amani visits every now and then, to check in on Corwyn and make sure everything is fine. They've become good friends and Amani knows to avoid the topic of Isra when she comes over.
Corwyn tries to fill his days with as much as possible to keep his mind busy. It's only once he gets home to sleep when he finally lets out all of his tears. It's been three years since Isra left, and he still hasn't heard a word from him. He doesn't know if he's even alive. He wants to ask Amani some days, but he isn't sure he wants to know the answer.
But waiting for a man who may never arrive is slowly killing him.
Corwyn just got back from his shift at his job, it's Friday night, and he collapses onto his couch, ready to commence his routine of binge watching any tv show that can make his brain numb.
About halfway through the episode, which was a mistake because he's well past on his way to tears, there's a knock on his door.
Confused, he sniffles, releasing the grip he has on his pillow and attempting to look somewhat presentable. He shouts, "Hang on!" to whoever is at the door, pulling on a pair of pants and wiping away his tears.
He knows it isn't Amani, seeing as she was only just here yesterday.
He unlocks his door and opens it. Corwyn looks up at the man standing there and freezes for a moment before he twists his fist into the man's shirt and pulls him down for a kiss.
After all these years, he knew Isra would find him.
