The Art of Loving You

Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Jan 06, 2019

Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles into my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. I watch my legs dangle above the hardwood floor.

Adjusting to my surroundings, I notice I'm no longer even and Nina's apartment; I'm in Keegan's.

The bed was soft and warm. I could feel Keegan's arm draping over me, more comforting than any blanket I had ever played under. I was caressed by his musky scent, as the clothes I wore at Nina's still clung to me.

I ran my hand over his back, the soft hairs tickling the tips of my fingers. I could feel the bones through his skin, the vertebrae of his spine looking as though they tried to pierce through his flesh. His skin was tough but so smooth and gently. His hair framed around his face lightly as I clutched it in my hands, lanky, and greasy, but he suited it. They way it framed his eyes, and his now thinned face made me lust for him more.

It was only his eyes that remained unchanged, colored a grey that was colder than the winter sky, yet I had found warmth when I looked deep into them. In his eyes, I could see my own reflection. It was me who had changed. Not on the outside, but the inside.

Nina, Keegan, and even Nathan. Had helped me see that I could grow from the heartache and the pain. That each experience they gave me, help shape me into the person I am now.

As I looked upon myself, in his perfect grey eyes glistening, I knew this wasn't real. It must be a dream, but one I do not wish to wake from. I wanted to stay with him forever. I couldn't look away, I wanted those eyes to be the last thing she ever saw.

I love you, I wanted to shout.

His eyes fluttered open, revealing icy blues that were framed with thick long lashes. "Morning," Keegan's raspy morning voice came into string.

"Morning," I giggled lightly, keep close eye contact with him.

He placed his calloused hand upon my check before pushing my hair behind my ear, I lean into his hand, "I took you from Nina because I really wanted this moment with you."

This felt like a dream, and everything I had hoped for,

"I love you." Keegan pauses, the 'i love you' lingers in the air.

My heart feels like a million butterfly's floating through my chest, "I love you too, Keegan."
