After finishing with the breakfast, everyone went off to do their own things for an hour until they were to meet before the speech. Iris was led away by her husband to get some rest. Aria pulled Nala away by the top of her nightgown, with Rina in tow behind them to get themselves dressed. Axel also had wandered off for the time being, probably to flirt with one of the maids.
That left Fayt alone with his thoughts.
The prince hadn’t moved from the dining table even an inch with the others gone for he was too distracted. He hadn’t even noticed the maids, scurrying around, cleaning the table, and push in the chairs.
Letting out a soft sigh, Fayt leaned forward, set his elbows on the table and buried his face in his hands. ‘Come on, Fayt, suck it up. You’re a man, men have confidence. Where did all of yours go? Just breathe... Today is just another day, don’t treat it any differently.’
Fayt took in a few deep breaths to calm his nerves and once calm he lifted himself from his seat. ‘Maybe I’ll feel better after finding Axel.’ He always felt better after letting out his frustrations on his childhood friend.
Leaving the room, Fayt wandered down the corridors until he heard a pair of voices and stopped to hear who it was. “My, you seem rather lovely today.” It was Axel, of course, flirting with one of the maids.
Scowling, the blond crossed his arms and leaned back against the wall to wait until they would finish. ‘Stupid Axel…wasting away his free time wooing maids. We don’t pay them or you to fritter away like this… Wait, why am I mad? He can do whatever the hell he wants. I don’t care!’
“And what do you not care about, my prince?” Fayt gasped and looking to his side, realizing that not only had he said his last thought out loud, but that he hadn’t even noticed the other man approaching.
Raising a fist to his mouth, the blond coughed and regained his composure. “Nothing... Anyway, you should be getting ready too, not…not spending your time with the servants.” Right after he made a mental note, ‘I better be more careful next time and keep my ears open.’
“Had I known you’d be so jealous, I would have been even more open about it,” the brunet teased and reached out to play with a strand of the golden hair in front of him. “Your jealous face is one of your better faces,” Axel hummed as a slender hand swatted at his own tan one.
“Stop your delusions, no one's jealous,” Fayt declared. “Stupid Axel.” He averted his gaze. “Anyway, hurry up, since I’ve got nothing better to do. There is nothing wrong with being a little early.” Huffing, Fayt turned around fast and started heading off towards the second floor of the palace where they were expected to meet the rest of his family.
“As you wish my prince.”
