"Master..." Her voice broke when Averinka looked up at the girl, and turned her face away from the vampire.
"It is your time to feed, isn't it?" Averinka sighed and offered her arm to the vampire to feed, but Irina only looked at her master with hurt expression and closed her cold hand around Averinka's wrist, sitting beside her and pressed a kiss on the Queen's pulse point offering a sad smile.
"I don't want anything from master. All I want my master to be happy if it means tearing down all the council that's conspiring to uncrown you." Averinka gasped at the vampire's confession who settled to sit beside her at the pond.
"The council or people cannot dethrone you and I'll make it sure to protect you and your position even if I have to burn down the entire kingdom."
"One cannot rule the dead city." Averinka snickered and hid her face in her arms, staring into the distant.
"People who cannot be loyal to their ruler are better dead than be alive. If there's any traitor inside the palace, I will find them out and bring them before the council. It's my promise to you master."
"Why would a blood sucking creature like you be loyal to a human?" Averinka flinched at her own words that came out harsh but the girl only smiled and answered instead.
"Parasite cannot love the body it feeds on."
"Parasite must love the body it feeds on because it's nothing without the body."
Irina stood up and offered her hand to pull Averinka up. They walked to the Queen's sleeping chamber in silence, and no words were exchanged between them.
The queen changed into her sleeping attire behind the screen and Irina helped her in her bed. She dragged the chair from the corner and sat on it watching over the sleeping queen.
Her master was right, a parasite must not care for the body it feeds on.

After the dinner, the orchestra started playing music and the elderly couple joined the dance floor, followed by the other couples who started dancing to the music. Chris spotted a lady standing in the corner with her drink, and asked her for a dance. She put away the glass and took Chris' hand, joining the dance floor and started swaying with him to the beat. Ava didn't remember seeing that woman among the guests, and wondered if she had seen her before. She had long black hair, dressed in a sequin black halter dress with crossed patterns at the back. Her lips were blood red, and Ava envied that lipstick color. Chris span the woman around, and she looked up, over Chris' shoulder catching Ava's eyes. Those cinnamon brown eyes, with flickers of red in her irises, had a piercing look in them and Ava who became self-conscious and grabbed herself drink to busy herself with. Chris let go of the woman when the music came to end, and noticed the pained look on Aaron's face who stalked away from there only for the Chris to stop him by the elbow. Something transpired between them, Aaron barked something at Chris which made him falter back and he said nothing but offered a sad smile. Aaron went to where his parents were talking to a man and woman, with their daughter who was the owner of NR. Company.
Aaron and that girl started talking to each other, before Aaron asked the girl for the dance and led her to the dance floor. Chris slumped down on a chair next to Ava and chugged down the wine from flute in one go.
"Trouble in paradise?" Ava asked and Chris made a humming sound.
"You two fought?"
"He acts like as if I love him and cheating on him." Chris narrowed his eyes as the girl leaned closer and said something in Aaron's ear which made him laugh.
"And are you not?"
"Not what?" Chris scowled not taking his eyes off the young dancing couple which were the center of spotlight.
"In love?"
"The pretty of brain of him sees the things which are not there. What makes him think like that?"
"I beg to differ, but anyone but you can see the way you look at him." Ava crossed her arms and leaned back against the chair.
"And how do I look at him?"
"As if he's your penicillin and even a taste of it could you."
"So should I have him for one night to satiate him, and then what get discarded? He can have anyone in the entire world but me of a low birth, or less be said blood of a servant."
"Then, I would say you're a coward. You don't want to know how does he feel about you because you're scared to be rejected."
"Do I dare eat peach?" It made Ava snicker and she flicked him on his head.
"Don't eat him, just tell him about your feelings."
"He is the heir of Yanez estate. A man like him would rather go childless than to have a gay son. Not everyone is like your father, Ava."
"But if I were you, I would have wanted to know if he loved me or not."
"It doesn't matter but I'm going to interrupt their dance and steal him off."
"Whatever you say."
Ava shrugged and watched Chris go to Aaron and tapped on getting girl's shoulder asking her to steal her dance partner. The orchestra started playing different music, and Chris suddenly grabbed Aaron's hand spinning him around, and pressed him against his back much to Aaron's shouts and Mr. Yanez red face who was held back by his wife. But Chris started doing tango with infuriated Aaron, sweeping and moving him across the dance floor, occasionally dipping him in his arm or lifting him up side way on his hip and spinning them around. Mr. Yanez had left from there, with his wife tailing after him but Chris continued dancing with his son, Aaron, who was grunting and cursing at Chris but it made no effect on him.
She spotted Annabeth standing in the corner and went to the girl, who was sulking for some reason.
"Now, what happened to you?"
"Who? Me? Nothing?"
"Your face screams like as if you have gone widow?" Ava teased and Anna snickered in reply.
"One cannot be a widow without a man." Annabeth did a mock sniff which made Ava laugh obnoxiously. They fell in silence and Ava followed the trail of gaze of Annabeth and raised her eyebrow.
"Is it him?" She asked looking at the boy who was talking to some man. He was tall, lean with good built, dressed in black slacks and button down shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows revealing his strong arms. He had black hair, with dark grey eyes and when he'd laugh, he had tiny dimples at the corner of his eyes.
"Him? He's Nathan, Captain Jameson's son." Annabeth answered and continued sulking.
"He's got a girlfriend?" Ava asked crossing her arms. Why she's caught up in relationship of others?
"I don't know, girl."
"Then, what's the problem?"
"Look at him and then me."
"Yes, I looked at him and then you and you people would look great together."
"In my next life." Ava let out wolf whistle earning a murderous glare from Annabeth. Nathan caught their eyes, and smiled in their direction before excusing himself from the man and walked towards them.
"Oh my God, Ava he's coming towards us."
Annabeth panicked pulling at the girl's dress from behind.
"Then it's an opportunity talk to him!" Ava shot back forcing herself to smile.
"I don't want to."
"Hey, Anna didn't see you here." Nathan spoke in a cheerful manner which made Annabeth groaned.
"I didn't see you here either." Ava noticed the palpable tension between the two and decided to introduce herself to break the awkward silence.
"Hi, I'm Ava" Ava held out her hand for Nathan who smiled and shook it. "I'm Nathan. You're new here? I saw you at the school." He remembered seeing the girl with Chris and Aaron after the classes.
"Ah, yes...I'm related to David."
"David?"
"My..." Ava hesitated
"Her father is in relationship with David. David is her second Dad." Annabeth answered for Ava knowing that the other girl gets hesitated in talking about her fathers in the new place.
"Your father is very lucky, Ava. My father is a good friend of David and he's such a good man."
"Thanks."

Mason was making lamb ribs for the dinner, when David sneaked up behind him wrapping his arms around Mason's torso.
"What are you making?" David placed his chin on Mason's shoulder
"Lamb ribs." David hummed and Mason could feel it reverberate through his chest. David pulled back and turned on a radio placed on the kitchen's counter putting on a song, and offered a hand to Mason who looked at him confused and then back to his lamb ribs which he's making tender in the steamer.
"We have time." David said and grabbed Mason's hand pulling him towards him, and wrapped his arm around his waist.
I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
David swayed them with the song, and swept there feet through the small of their kitchen with smiles on their faces and knowing glint in their eyes.
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would livin' do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
David span Mason around and pulled him back, face to face. Mason locked his arms around David and David pulled him closer in a kiss.
Alex removed the headphones and paused on his X-box before dragging himself out of his room to get water bottle from the refrigerator, but nearly screamed when he saw David and Mason caught up in a heated make out session on the kitchen's counter.
"Why did I have to walk in on you guys for the fifth time!"

Ava felt her phone vibrated, blaring up with the caller ID and she excused herself before wandering through the corridor and descended downstairs to the back courtyard where pots and plants were kept, along with a tennis net attached to two poles. Her phone vibrated again and she picked it up to answer.
"What's the matter kid?"
"When are you returning? These two men are giving me headache with their romantic antics." Alex shouted right in her ear and she had to pull phone away from her ear lest she wanted it to bled.
"I can't stand them! Come back home."
"You can stay in my room for the time being. I'll be..."
Ava stopped mid sentence when she heard a painful whimper. She turned to look back and in the midst of shadows, cast by the moonlight filtering in through the vines bards, and behind the pillar supporting the small corrdior she saw two figures merged together. She hanged up on Alex, and moved closer when she heard another pained whimper. There's a woman, cradling the head of the man whose back was turned to her. The woman's mouth was buried into the man's neck, and Ava flushed in embarrassment knowing that she had walked in on them, but the phone slipped from her hand and her eyes widened in horror when the woman looked up from the man's neck and made an eye contact with Ava.
Blood was dripping down her chin, and she licked her long canines which made Ava's blood run cold and the last thing she remembered falling on the cold floor losing her conscious.
It was around midnight, and the guests started leaving. Annabeth was waiting for Ava, but went to look for the girl getting worried since she'd not pick up her phone either.
"Did you see Ava? I couldn't find her anywhere and I couldn't reach her phone either." Annabeth asked Chris who started looking for the girl around the mansion and called her phone. Aaron noticed the door to the back of courtyard open and went to look over of the railing of stairs. He noticed a figure passed out on the ground, and shouted Ava's name running towards her followed by Chris and Annabeth. Aaron checked her pulse, and barked at Chris.
"Call ambulance." Chris instantly dialed his phone and Aaron picked her up taking the girl upstairs. The ambulance arrived and paramedics took her on stretcher inside the vehicle and closed the doors. Annabeth and Aaron hoped inside the car, as Chris took the wheels and drove after the ambulance to the hospital.
The difficult thing was calling Ava's father's about her condition.
The ambulance arrived at the hospital and paramedics pulled out the stretcher with IV attached to her arm. They ran her inside the hospital, and nurses and a female doctor rushed in taking her inside the ICU room and closed the doors. Doctors and nurses started checking on her vital, and the female doctor in white coat and black hair which were pulled back in a ponytail started working with them. The doctor with Ruby lips, was at the patient's side instantly and took her pulse. The other two doctors ripped open front of her hospital gown to send electric pulse to her heart to stabilize her falling pulse before doing ECG. It's due to the trauma she had received and according to doctors it might take time for her to wake up. Her condition was stabilized and IV was inserted into her arm. The doctors and nurses left from the ICU room, with one of the doctor talking to Chris and Annabeth, but she stayed behind and bent over to press a kiss on her forehead.
"I can't believe you are reborn as a stupid creature."
