As the monster closes in on him he sees no more. He is awakened by his mother as he ponders the incident. Percy steps outside the building but sees an odd, strange disembodied shadow.

Percy arrives at school, with no interest but leaving it. As he stands up for his only friend Tyson, an odd fellow whom no one seems to like. Being strange the two are naturally friends. As the day progresses Percy longs to leave the troubles of the school behind, and join his friends in the one place he can call home.

The day drudges on and now it is time for PE, where the school bully was waiting for Percy. The game of choice is Dodgeball, stricken by fear he and Tyson are the only two against the opposing team. Percy senses the bully’s friends are odd and soon enough his fears are confirmed. The “humans” are not humans at all but in fact monsters. The gymnasium erupts into a warzone as Percy fights off the beasts. Annabeth arrives in time to save him and dispatch the giant. The trio runs off trying to escape the scene, as Annabeth begins to explain what the assailants were. They escape in a chariot to evade the authorities. The drivers were three sisters who appeared very horrific to them, bloodshot eyes and missing teeth. As they arrive at Camp Half-Blood they see a group of campers being attacked.
