18 years later - Highland
A young elf-woman was laying in her king size bed. She was rolling from the left side to the right side of the bed. The elf was having a bad dream.
“Amethyst. Amethyst. Amethyst.” said a voice in her dream. “Who are you?” “Amethyst. Amethyst. Amethyst.” kept the voice saying. There was a bright light moving along with the voice. “Amethyst. Amethyst. Amethyst.” The light became to shape. It looked a person. “Amethyst.” She woke up.
“Amethyst!” yelled another young elf-woman with curly red hair in a ponytail while shaking Amethyst. She woke up and was surprised. “What?” “The dream. This time I came further. I woke up in the dream!” Amethyst softly pushed the elf aside to grab her notebook. She wrote down the new details about her dream. “Are you done?” said the elf. “Yes, Blossom. What do you need?” Blossom looked like she saw water burning. “IT'S YOUR 18TH BIRTHDAY, THYST!” she yelled. “Right.” Amethyst didn't look excited but she sure wasn't sad either. “Today is that day..”
Amethyst had dressed herself. She had her long purple hair sided to her right, covering one of her beautiful ocean eyes. She wore pearl earrings and a necklace made out of pearls. She was wearing a no-sleeved grass green dress which her father had let made for her 18th birthday. As she entered the all white dining room with the most beautiful chandelier on top of the walls, her father waved at her. The elf-man sat at the head of the table reading the latest news. “My daughter. Happy birthday.” he said. “Thank you, father.” She took place at her chair. “Are you ready for the ceremony, Amethyst?”
Honestly? No, father.
But she didn't want to make him concerned. Her father already looked like he had a lot of things on his mind. Amethyst just nodded, hoping he wouldn't ask her more questions.
Why are you lying to dad, Thyst? thought Blossom as she entered the dining room. Get out my head, Blos.
Amethyst looked slightly angry at her older sister for invading her head uninvited. Blossom is a Linker who has the power to read people's minds when they are mentally vulnerable or when their mind is open. It works strange. “Blossom.” said the elf-man. “Father.” Blossom took place at the table. “So, where's mother?” Blossom took a bite out of an apple.
She's right. Where is mom? The last time we saw her was a few days ago. - I'm always right, Thyst. - Again, get out my head! - Then why do you let me in?
The elf-man had noticed the awfully silence. It's never that quiet unless they talked mentally. He saw the look on Amethyst face, she looked angry at Blossom. “That's enough!” he yelled. They both looked at their disappointed father.
I'm sorry, dad.
“Blossom. No more!” He smashed his hands on the table. “Fine.” Blossom continued eating her apple. She knew she would never be good enough for him. He would always choose her side. Amethyst saw how upset her sister was. She didn't want this. Not on her birthday. Blossom is her best friend, the only one who she can really talk to.
Blos?
She looked at Amethyst uninterested.
Blossom, come on. - What does Ava-
“I see that it's very much alive here.” interrupted a voice. An much older, yet beautiful, elf-woman had walked in. She was wearing white like their father. Her long red hair was loose on her shoulders. Their father looked into her green eyes and said: “Avrilla, my love.” The elf-man stood up to hug his wife. “Avalon.” She kissed him on the cheek. “My daughters.”
Mom - Blossom, you didn't get in any trouble while I was awhile right? - Well, father.. - I'll speak to Avalon.
“Are you two done?” said Avalon. Avrilla and Blossom laughed. “We are now, my dearest.” Avrilla judged Amethyst's appearance. “You look too skinny and pale, my daughter. Are you eating enough?” “Yes, mother.” said Amethyst. “Nonsense. She looks stunning.” said Avalon trying to keep the peace between his wife and their youngest daughter.
Avalon's favourite.. - At least you are Avrilla's favourite. Haha.
The girls smiled at each other. Everything was good between them now. They always would call each other like that whenever their parents would choose sides. And that happened a lot. Blossom always has been Avrilla's favourite while Amethyst always has been Avalon's favourite. But they didn't let that ruin their bond. “Well then. Are you ready for the ceremony? It's not every day an elf gets their link.” Amethyst nodded.
Why do you keep lying, Thyst? - Meet me outside, our usual place, in five. Blossom winked. What could Amethyst be worried about?
“So, what's up?” asked Blossom while she shot an arrow with her bow at one of the trees. They were in the woods of Highland, close to their safe areas. This place used to be beautifully green. Now there are only a few parts of this forest that remained alive. The girls always went to the border between the alive side and the dead side of these woods. Amethyst was sitting there against a tree. She had her notebook in her hands and went through the pages. “Isn't it strange that my dream went further on my 18th birthday?” Blossom kept shooting. “It's just a coincidence.” Amethyst looked up. She had heard something. It were birds passing by. “Didn't they use to sing?” “They?” “The birds.” Blossom looked up. “Birds singing? That's ridiculous.” Blossom continued practicing archery. “Could you stop?” “One day, they will come back, Thyst.” She sighed. “While you worry about dreams, I worry about our lives. Dad doesn't talk much about it around us. But I heard The Wind is planning something. Something big.” Blossom focused on the reindeer that was standing still in the distance. “I will be ready.” She hit the reindeer. “We both will be ready.” Amethyst smiled.
“Ready for?” asked a young elf-man as he appeared behind a tree. Blossom intentionally missed the elf-man's head. “Spying much? Did father send you?” she teased. “Me working for Avalon The Great? That's like… I'm sorry. That ain't chill of me.” he smiled. The girls laughed. “It's fine, Cos.” said Blossom. “Anyways, I was hanging out in the woods and then I saw arrows flying around.” Amethyst coughed. “Blossom's fault.” Shut up. Amethyst laughed. “Are you coming to her ceremony?” Blossom glanced at Cos. He was so dashing while looking at his sword. A real gentleman, well elf. He had a blue suit on. His long brown hair in a ponytail behind his head with a bit hanging on his shoulders. So much colour he had on while Cos himself looked pretty pale. “Of course! Whole Highland wants to see the ceremony of their princess!”
