"Who's there?!" She turned to her back, holding her sword in hand just in case it was someone uninvited, dropping the chocolate in the process. "It's just me." A voice said and the owner walked out from the darkness of the woods to her. She released her sword and sighed. "It's just you... Kaname...-senpai." She turned to look at the lake once again letting him stood beside her.
"What're you doing this late of a time?" He asked her as he claimed his spot beside her. "Just need fresh air." She simply said still with her stoic face. "You should really get rid of that mask. You're looking more and more like Shiki." He commented even without the need to look at her. "Well, like I said before... This is more comfortable." She answered nonchalantly then she sat down on the ground, facing the lake that reflected the moon. Just now then that Kaname turned to look at her. "You used to be a cheerful kid too." He sighed as he took a sit beside her. She looked at him and raised an eyebrow to him. "What? It is true, though." He spoke up as he thought she did not believe her. "Well, that is not true. But that's not really what surprised me." She replied. "Then what is it?" He asked looking at her. "I'm just surprised you would even sit down on the grass, the ground, without any covering or pillow."
Kaname was now who was caught off guard. "Really? You are talking about that instead?" Scarlet just shrugged. "Seriously, you are really..." He sighed. "Why are you here as well, Kaname-senpai?" She asked back to him. "Hmm... I was on my way to the headmaster's office when I smelled you." He bluntly said without looking at her, but she turned to look at him, giving him the same look from before. "That sounds... Gross...and somehow perverted..." She commented. "You're the one taking it that way." He easily countered. Scarlet's eyebrow twitched slightly. She hated it how she could never won against him with words. "Then, shouldn't you be on your way already? It's getting late already." She returned the topic to where it begin. "Then you should return as well. You shouldn't be out at this late of time alone." He countered again. "I'll be fine." She simply replied. He sighed. "Why're you so stubborn?" He asked disbelieved and she just shrugged again.
"Come on. I'll take you to your room as well." He stood up, cleaning his uniform by patting it gently before pulling Scarlet up. She looked up at him and sighed, standing up herself. "Oh, what's that?" She heard him asked as he walked to near the lake, then he picked up something. She looked at what he picked up and her eyes widen slightly. She searched around her pocket and she could not find what she was looking. Well, of course, because what she was looking for was now in the hand of the guy in front of her. "Is this a chocolate?" He walked back to her holding the box of chocolate in his hand. "Is it yours?" He asked again looking up at her who turned to look away. Seeing she did not gonna answer it, he spoke again. "Well, I guess it is. It has your smell in it." That got her attention as she quickly turned to look at him and he was quite surprised to see her cheeks flushed slightly. "Don't smell on me or my things!" She fumed up and was about to take the chocolate back before he pulled it away from her. She raised an eyebrow to him.
"Aren't you going to give it to me?" Kaname proudly asked, without even the hint of any embarrassment of fear of being wrong. "Huh?" Scarlet furrowed her eyebrows looking at him in disbelief. "Why're you thinking so?" She asked back. "Since you gave one to each of the night class students, right? Though this one looks pretty different from the others." He brought the box of chocolate up to inspect it. Scarlet still wore her stoic face as she asked again. "And, why do you think that, that chocolate is yours? Do you perhaps want one from me?" A smirk now was shown on her face, and her knew she was going to tease him. But, being a Kaname Kuran he was, he of course would not fall for it. "If I say yes?" That was a pretty simple reply, but that sure got her quiet and her smirk was gone completely, replace by her boring and stoic expression again. "You've got one from Yuki, though, and I thought that's enough for you?" She asked looking straight at him, not showing any emotion on her face. Yet, somehow Kaname could see it in her eyes. He sighed before he spoke up, "Oh, so I was right. It was you behind the tree." She blinked then her expression was unreadable, between confusion, surprised, and perhaps, fear? Why would she be afraid of anything, though? Kaname could not figure it out but he just knew what she was going to ask so he just added before she asked, "From your smell." Scarlet rolled her eyes again and muttered a "I know it." He let out a low chuckle.
"Then I'll keep it, okay?" Kaname decided and he was about to put it in his pocket when he felt his hand was grabbed by the girl. "No, wait!" She stopped him. "What's it?" He simply asked, confused. "I never say I'm going to give teh chocolate to you, though?" She frowned looking at him. "But you never say you're not going to give it to me either." He countered her easily again, and she groaned, finally breaking her mask. "Why are you so...? Ugh..." Scarlet let go of his hand and pouted, crossing her arms in front of her chest before looking away from him. "Fine you can have the chocolate! You can give it to Seiren too if you want." She said annoyed. "Who said I'm going to give it to her?" He asked confused. "But you gave the others to her, though, except for Yuki's of course." She answered truthfully with the last part in a low voice. But, being a vampire with good hearing, Kaname of course caught that as well. "Don't worry, I'll keep yours as well. Thank you for the xocolat, Scarlet." He said teasing her, purposefully using the word she used to say for the chocolate. Her cheeks flushed red as she heard it. "St-stop using that word! I was just a kid back then!" She protested turning to look at him. "I can't still even believe that it's even used for the event's name." She sighed as she facepalmed. "Why not, doesn't it sound cute for you?" He continued on. "Geez... It's thanks to you who suggested it, Kaname!" She yelled at him, unconsciously calling him just by his name like she used to. "Oh... I'm sorry, I mean Kaname-senpai." She corrected herself almost immediately bowing apologetically.
Kaname looked at her and saw that she had once again put her mask on. He raised his hand out and put it on top of her head, petting it gently. "You don't have to mind about it." He assured her. "Hmm..." Was the only replied he could hear as she did not even looked up to him. He did not really knew why she even wore the mask. She was just the only one he seemed to be unable to read. "Let's get you back to your room now then." He spoke again as he knew the conversation between the two had finished that night. Scarlet shook her head before she looked up at him. "I'll be able to return by myself. Thank you, though, Kaname-senpai." She said bowing her head before walking away to her dorm. But then she stopped mid-way. Without looking back to him, she whispered, "Thank you for accepting the chocolate, Kaname-senpai." as she knew he could hear her after all. "Have a good night." She added before continuing her way to the dorm, leaving Kaname alone who just looked at her leaving. "Really... You're just one who I can't never read." He muttered lowly under his breath as he looked at the chocolate and somehow a smile appeared on his face.

"Scarlet? What's wrong? Are you alright?" The man in glasses asked one of his daughter, concerned. "Huh? What's it, headmaster?" She asked back without showing any emotion on her face. The girl was now had turned into a 13 years old girl and she was in her first year of middle school, and that was the beginning of her wearing her stoic, expressionless mask. "N-no... It's nothing." Kaien simply brushed it off as he knew she would not even tell him anything if he pushed further. So, he had decided to just wait. He had no idea what had made her turned to be like that as well.
It all just happened one night. Kaien had decided that the academy would open a night class, where the students who would be studying there were vampires. Zero had definitely opposed to it, even after Kaien told him that Kaname would be the one in charge in taking care of the vampires while studying at the academy. On the other hand, Yuki was beyond happy. She was delighted that she would be able to meet Kaname often. Meanwhile, Scarlet had been starting to have a mixed feelings about it.
Then, that one night came. Yuki who had been excited about the night class plan, had headed to the building that was used temporarily for the night class students, despite knowing that they would all be vampires. There, he had met some of the students, but she could not find the one she was looking for yet. So, she had decided to wait inside the dorm, totally letting her guard down as she fell asleep while waiting. It was then when she was deep in her slumber that Kaname had come to the dorm. Thankfully, he came in time before a new vampire student had attacked Yuki. He then chased the guy away and gently he removed the hair on her cheek. He then lowered his gaze to her freely open neck. He had lowered his face down to her neck before he stopped mid-way. "What a careless girl." He commented and carried her bridal style and brought her to his room. Unknown to the two, there was someone who had been watching the scene unfolded, and it was none other than the owner of the reddish black hair. It was then that the first time she had began to close her heart off from everyone, and had sealed away all of her emotions and feelings, along with her heart.

However, that night might be an exception for her, as Scarlet had broken her own promise to herself, and she had once again make a promise to herself and she had promised to not ever break it anymore. So, at least, she let that night be the last time she would ever show her emotions and feelings, and that was indeed the last time, she would ever cry ever again, until she knew what to come later in the future.
