Jonas

Jonas was not fine. He was definitely and totally not fine. He tripped twice on the way to the cafe trying to check his messages after getting a notification only to discover that it was his father both times. He also came a little too early only serving to make him look way to eager as he was left waiting in the cafe alone with one eye on the door and the other on his phone.

A buzzing started in Jonas' back pocket that tickled a little. Lifting his leg he pulled it out of his pocket to check the message only to frown at the screen and toss it onto the table with a huff. It was David again. Jonas didn't tell Nick about his little "apologetic lunch" Cause he knew the man would make assumptions and try to give him "the talk", something he first heard in ninth grade and was hoping he'd never have to hear again but God forbid Nick and David ever let him be. Jesus he could talk to an attractive guy without wanting to have sex, something they were slowly coming to terms with.

The message asked if the guy had shown up yet, for the fifth time in only a ten minute time span. Jonas didn't expect him to come on time and though he was a little annoyed he found David's prodding to be more annoying.

"No, christ. It's only been ten minutes just chill out," he dictated, mumbling as he typed the text. "I swear, this man is gonna be the death of me."

"Are you talking to yourself?"

Jonas snapped his head up at this, face flushed as he sputtered out a "No, whywouldibetalkingtomyself" as he shoved his phone back into his pocket.

Sky looked... Nice. He had his black hair pushed back and out of his face and kept running his fingers through it as he licked his lips before gesturing to the seat across from Jonas, "Can I sit here?"

"Yeah that's fine," Jonas shrugged, not really sure how these things were supposed to go. He'd never actually been invited to an "apologetic lunch" nor had he ever invited someone himself so he figured it would be like lunch between new friends. That was until Sky came into the Cafe looking like a total dream boat with his sleeves rolled up.

After they ordered their drinks they were left to wait. Clearing his throat Jonas asked how Sky's day had been, hoping that making small talk would help make things less awkward and it worked for a while until Sky's lips curved into an easy smile he started asking about Jonas' day.

"You wouldn't wanna really hear about my day, my life's pretty boring," Jonas said, trying to change the subject.

"I really do actually." Sky leaned forward, resting his chin in his hand as he waited for Jonas to continue.

"You're serious?"

"Very? You know what, how bout I make a confession first?"

Nodding his head Jonas sat back in his seat. "Be my guest please."

"Well... To be honest I was a little reluctant to come out here today," Sky admitted, before the waitress came back with their drinks. He flashed her a smile that had her hooking a strand of hair behind her ear before scurrying back to where she'd come from, a cute bashful little smile lighting up her own features as she ducked her head.

"You didn't wanna come?" Jonas raised a brow, picking his cup up off the table.

Sky shook his head. "Not really. I've been in a bit of a slump lately. All I ever do is go to work, stop by the laundromat to wash my clothes cause my dryer's broken, and then I just lounge around at home."

"You haven't tried going out to talk to any friends?" Jonas asked, frowning at the man across from him.

"Nope," Sky shook his head.

"Do you have any friends? Girlfriend or boyfriend maybe?" Jonas tried not to stutter on the last part, taking a sip of his drink immediately after to let his statement hang there for a moment.

"Yeah, a couple." Sky ran his fingers through his hair.

"Friends or girlfriends or...?" Jonas grimaced at the thought.

Laughing Sky sat up, slapping his knee so loud that the other patrons looked up from their own food and drinks to see what was happening. Jonas found himself sinking down in his seat from embarrassment at both his statement and Sky's boisterous nature.

Shaking his head the man ran his fingers through his hair again. " I was talking about my friends though I- er I did have a boyfriend. But that's not why I've been feeling down."

He tacked the last part on pretty quick as if he were afraid that Jonas would ask. Not that he cared to. He'd just met the man, asking him about stuff like that would make him feel rude.

"Well if you do have a couple friends then why are you eating lunch with me and not them?" Jonas felt his phone buzzing in his pocket again, likely David ready to ask if Sky was still running late.

"I really don't know. It took a lot just to get myself up and out of bed," Sky admitted. "It's funny though cause here I am now, talking to a stranger."

"Yeah..." Jonas nodded.

"Maybe it's cause you're cute." Sky shrugged, smiling at the waitress as she came strolling past their table again. She blushed, nearly tripping as she tried to talk to the people behind them.

Jonas bit his bottom lip and grabbed his cup quickly to hide his smile. "Yeah maybe, but I recall asking you about your day so..."

"Right, right? But I already told you about my day so you're supposed to be telling me about yours."

"Alright fine," Jonas rolled his eyes at the man, God he was insufferable, "I haven't really had that good a day. Quiet frankly my day's been pretty shit."

"Till you came here to meet me right?" Sky smirked.

"Nah it's still pretty shit," Jonas said, with an amused smirk of his own, "but I guess now it's starting to get a little better."

Nodding Sky lifted his drink up to his lips and took a sip.

"Before I got here I was texting one of my dad's about this and by the way, he thinks you're a dick for showing up late," Jonas cocked his head to the side at him, "I can only imagine what my friend would say about it."

"You barely know me and yet you've told your parents about me," Sky raised a brow at him.

"Shut up," Jonas tossed the paper from his straw at him.

"You know what, this is nice." The man set his cup down, blue eyes turning towards the window to gaze out at the passers-by.

"I mean, yeah I guess it is," Jonas agreed, studying the man before him.

He never really got a good look at him. He was always too busy apologizing or muttering curses under his breath aimed at the man to actually take time to admire him. Sky was fairly handsome, his pale eyes had a certain light to them that Jonas couldn't really describe but it made it impossible to look away from him.

"You guess? Maybe I'm just saying this because I haven't strayed from routine in a while, it's refreshing, doing something new," Sky explained, taking another sip of his coffee.

"I get what you mean now." Jonas felt his phone buzzing in his back pocket. Apologizing he pulled it out, unlocking it quickly only to groan.

"What is it?" Sky leaned forward, studying the look of annoyance on Jonas' face.

"I forgot that I was supposed to be meeting up with a friend of mine for this little get together or whatever" Jonas sighed, pushing off the chair and quickly texting an apology to Jill who sent a good three different texts asking him if he was picking up the chips and soda.

"It's kinda early isn't it?" Sky frowned taking his own phone out of his pocket to check the time.

"This was all a last minute kind of thing and she forgot to buy snacks. It's kind of like a small gathering, only it won't be any fun considering the fact that you have like six twenty somethings all getting stupid drunk and eating all the snacks they didn't bother to help buy." Jonas crossed his arms over his chest, already done. "I'm supposed to get the chips but I'm gonna buy Fritos just to piss her off. She can't stand them."

"You two sound like you're really good friends," Sky quipped.

"I know right. Just the best."

Laughing to himself Sky pulled out a twenty and handed it to Jonas. "Here, I still feel bad about your phone. For the chips."

"Oh, thanks," Jonas said, the sight of the dollar reminding him he forgot to ask for the check.

Swooping his curly hair back off his forehead Jonas hailed the waitress from earlier.

"Hey you don't have to pay," Sky said, stopping the waitress to ask for the check.

"No, I do. I invited you, that's how it goes. The person who invited you pays," Jonas argued.

"Well fine then, how bout we do this again say... next Friday. It's the least I could do."

"Smooth."

"Is that a yes?"

Jonas raised a brow when Sky held out a hand for him to shake. Snorting he rolled his eyes. "I'm not opposed to the idea so I guess you can say that."

"Great. Same time next week?" Sky still had his hand out.

"Yeah." Jonas nodded his head, taking Sky's hand and giving it a firm shake. "It's a date."

If my characters can be smooth does that automatically make me smooth cause I'm the one who wrote it, right? I'm gonna die alone.

Anyway- I feel like doing some drawings of these two but I'm lazy and suck at anatomy so.... *insert ridiculous Android emojis*

Jonas ran into Schuyler at the bus stop, like, he literally ran into the man.

After cracking his new phone's screen and accidentally giving the man a bloody nose Jonas asks to take him out to lunch as an apology and later exchange numbers. It's while at a party that Jonas calls the man again and in the confines of a bathroom with nothing but thin apartment walls and a city between them the two make confessions about themselves as strangers and quickly become fast friends.

It's only when Jonas starts to question his own feelings that he decides maybe there's more to this Schuyler guy than his clumsiness and his tendency to apologize way too much.
