Em thought that the open door was probably the most promising place to start, but before she started down the darkened passage she spotted the large vent that she'd woken up next to and looked more closely at it. If she'd wanted to try to remove the cover, she would have to find a heavy duty screwdriver, because it was bolted fast.
Unlike when she'd woken up, the vent wasn't blowing warm air anymore, instead the air coming through was cool, and there was definitely a piece of paper stuck between the slits. Em plucked the paper before it could be swept away and wondered if anything else had been displaced by the vent system...
