“I can’t see.” Hwan complained.
“Yeah. None of us can see Hwan.” Tatsuo snapped, annoyed.
It had been ten minutes since the boys took the plunge down into the mysterious hole. Ten minutes of walking in complete darkness. After some feeling around, they gathered that they were in some kind of hall that only went in one direction: forward. So forward they went, with no idea where they were going, or what they were heading toward.
Daichi was seriously beginning to regret going along with his brother’s decision. “We shouldn’t have done this. We should’ve just called the police.”
“Look Daichi,” Eric said in a calming tone. “Whatever these people are doing has to be really bad, and there’s no way the police could’ve found them after that hole closed up. So it’s for the best that we went after them.”
“Hm.” Daichi didn’t sound convinced, but he didn’t protest further.
After a few more minutes of silence, Hwan spoke up. “Guys. Whatever’s going on is like… really bad, right? What do you think we’re gonna find when we get there? Wherever there is?”
Silence. Clearly, the others hadn’t wanted, or hadn’t let themselves think about that. “No point worrying about it now.” Tatsuo said gruffly.
“Yeah. Let’s cross that bridge when we get to it Hwan.” Eric agreed.
Just then, a dim light became visible at the end of the hall. Seeing this, the boys picked up the pace, racing towards it. What they saw when they got there made them all come to a stop.
