The warmth radiating from Isabel was too much for Abigail to handle. Why did Isabel have to be this perfect? "I cannot wait for Prom." Isabel chirped, her eyes gleaming towards Nate. "Right, Abigail?"

"Oh yeah, same." Abigail smiled sweetly. In all honesty, Abigail didn't care about prom. Not that she hated her school or anything, she just didn't see what all the hype was about.

"Have you thought about who you're taking to prom?" Avery asked wearily, his eyes floating on Abigail faintly.

Abigail shook her head no. "I'm probably going to go with my friends." She shrugged as if it was no big deal. Isabel clicked her tongue.

"We're going to find you a prom date." She winked and Abigail sunk back into her seat. She honestly didn't care, but she needed to put an act on for them. Giving the rest of the group an okay, she went back to eating her food. She could feel Isabel's eyes burning into her, making her feel very self-conscious. Was she eating like a pig? Was there something on the side of her mouth? This was the type of impact Isabel had.

Shortly after, Isabel and Nate had left and Abigail could only wonder what they were up to, Avery placed himself right next to Abigail.

"So is this the part of the date where we kiss?" He asked chuckling. Abigail covered her mouth as bubbles of laughter spread through her.

"Hmm, I don't kiss on the first date." She got up, faking attitude and grabbing her bag.

"Guess we'll have to go on more." Avery winked, Abigail knew they weren't being serious but Avery was getting too comfortable.

"We'll see." She whispered, both of them making their way outside, Avery's arm weaved it's way through Abigail's.

Abigail let go of his arm and gave him a quick hug as they neared her house. As Avery departed, Abigail saw Isabel sitting at her porch. It was a friendly action but Abigail's stomach churned in delight.

"Isabel, what are you doing here?" She asked sweetly. Abigail's tone always changed when talking to Isabel; she mattered so much to her.

"Well I figured I should spend some quality time with my best friend." God why did she have to say such things?! Abigail opened her house door as they went up the stairs to Abigail's room. Isabel plopped down onto her bed.

"So how are things between you and Nate?" Abigail really didn't want to know; but she was her best friend and she knew Isabel had some news she needed to release. Isabel's face light up with joy.

"I mean he's making small steps. We were about to kiss but his phone rang." Isabel frowned deeply. Abigail leaned forward to give her a hug of friendly consolation. Her arms wrapped tightly around Isabel's body, not wanting to let go. It was impossible, she just couldn't untangle herself from her. Her heart ached a little knowing that they were about to kiss but she wasn't surprised.

It's not like Isabel was a virgin; after her first time, she immediately told Abigail. Abigail didn't talk to her for days; making up any excuse to avoid her. A few months later Abigail had started dating a guy and gave her virginity to him, almost as a form of revenge. But instead of seeing the jealousy she hoped from Isabel, she instead saw happiness and giddy from her. Abigail regretted her first time. She gave away something so sacred just because she was jealous; she was never going to make that mistake again.

Isabel pulled away from the hug, sighing deeply. "Oh well, we'll have many other moments together." She dropped back onto the bed and Abigail laid beside her. "Hope he at least asks me out to prom." She chuckled nervously. Abigail forcefully laughed along.

The truth was, many boys had asked Isabel out to prom- I mean who wouldn't. Isabel rejected all of them in the nicest way. Her eyes were set for Nate.

"I've had a crush on him for like 10 months now and our opportunity to kiss was disturbed; how hurtful is that?!" Isabel moaned. All Abigail could think was: I've had a crush on you for as long as I can remember, yet you always fall for other people, how hurtful is that?

"Anyways, I'll have another chance tomorrow night."

"Why what's happening tomorrow night?" Abigail asked.

"Karla and I are going shopping and we're meeting with Nate and Sam, almost like a double date." Sam was Karla's boyfriend and Karla had been trying her hardest to hook Isabel and Nate up, another reason why Abigail wasn't too fond of her.

Abigail felt a little hurt. She didn't even invite me?

"Go get him." Abigail winked.

"Awn Abby..." Abigail loved it when she called her that nickname. It sounded seductive rolling off from Isabel's tongue.

"I couldn't have asked for a better friend." She boasted proudly, yet that sentence really hit Abigail; making her realize that they were never going to be anything more than just friends.

"I need to change my clothes." Abigail changed the subject, walking to her closet to pull out something more comfortable.

"Why? I love seeing your ass in those shorts." Isabel teased, laughing when seeing the color drain from Abigail's face.

"Oh my god...Stop!" Abigail was bright red and Isabel just wanted to tease her more. She loved getting under Abigail's skin. Isabel never really understood why Abigail would get all worked up over such comments, after all, they'd known each other since diaper days, what was there to be embarrassed about?

"Joking babes."

"Anyways about you and Avery."

"What about us?"

"You guys are cute together." Abigail already didn't like where this was going.

"Nope, please stop. We're just friends." Isabel rolled her eyes.

"Sure..." Abigail turned, giving a slight glare. "You need to find someone to be with. Being single is not always good." Abigail couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Not everyone has a line of people waiting after them, you know." She snared, her back towards Isabel. She didn't want to get angry, she loved Isabel but at times she really was inconsiderate with words.
