Students swarmed around the school, hungrily making their way to their classes. Abigail walked to her art class, the last lesson of the day, with exhaustion. Thank goodness, the teacher wasn't that strict. She could finally relax in her seat. She placed her art book down and began listening to what the teacher had to say.
"For our last art piece. You'll have to present something that holds meaning. It can be something personal or completely made up." That was all Abigail needed to hear. The rest of the words were zoned out. To say Abigail was good at art was an understatement; she had pure talent, she just didn't like showing it off.
"So do you have any ideas what your piece might be about?" Tyler asked curiously. "Or are you going to draw Isabel nude." He smirked and Abigail could feel the heat rising to her cheeks.
"Shh! Do you want everyone to find out?!" She shushed him with her slender hands.
"Oh so you are going to do that?" His eyebrow rose teasingly. Abigail placed her head onto the table with a grunt. "I saw her kissing Nate." In an instant, Abigail's head rose.
"What, when?" Tyler could see the pain in her eyes and almost regretted telling her; but she needed to know.
"Right before coming here."
"I'm happy for her." Abigail forced a smile, her eyes swelling up with tears. She shook away the fragility she was feeling and focused on her sketches.
"Abigail I think you should find someone, you know...to forget about Isabel."
"I-I'll see."
Abigail was quiet for the duration of the lesson. Her mood felt down and she didn't want to talk to anyone. She actually wanted to get a detention just so she could miss cheer practice, but the odds weren't in her favor that particular day.
✷✷
Abigail, being the last to get out of the changing rooms, felt dizzy and sick. She ran across the field, the sun blazing onto her half-exposed body.
As soon as she met up with the rest of the girls, Isabel yanked her to the side. Just great...
"Oh my god, guess what?!" Isabel seemed so excited and happy to tell her that Abigail's anger had melted away.
"You and Nate kissed?" Abigail already knew what it was, since Tyler had broken the news to her.
"Not only that! He asked me out!"
"To prom?"
"Even better, to be his girlfriend." Abigail could feel the remaining happiness drain from her face. She stood, her mouth slightly parted. This was so expected yet it still shocked Abigail.
"How?!"
"He kissed me and then-it just...it happened you know." Isabel blabbered on and on as Abigail allowed everything to soak through. "His kisses are the best." She commented and Abigail didn't know what to say.
"Girls come on!"Abigail couldn't have been more grateful that coach had pulled them back to do their practice.
From the corner of Abigail's eyes she could see Isabel stretching, her skirt riding up her thighs, as perverted as it sounded, it was truly a mouth-watering sight. Lucky Nate. Abigail shook her head and began jogging.
Half-way through warming up, Abigail's dizziness began to get worse thanks to heat of the sun. She collapsed suddenly, startling all the girls and entering a void of darkness.
✷✷
She released a moan, feeling relieved that she could no longer feel the scorching heat of the sun, her body still felt hot and sore as she shuffled her head.
"Stop moving your head." Isabel's soft voice rang through her ears and she promptly lifted her head. "Lie back down, it'll help." Isabel commanded, placing Abigail's head back into her lap.
"Why are we under the bleachers?" Abigail chuckled nervously, fully acknowledging that she was alone with her crush, her head resting on her lap.
"Because you passed out and the nurse's room was closed, Coach thought it'd be a good idea to get you under the shade. How are you feeling now?" Isabel's voice had softened even more and Abigail couldn't help the arousal that was coursing through her.
"I'm great." Abigail replied simply.
"Why are your cheeks getting red?" Isabel grinned, not knowing the affect she had on Abigail. Abigail shrugged, shifting so now her head was face-down onto her lap. She could feel Isabel getting tense and she wondered if she had made the wrong move, but the position was just too comfortable.
"So tell me more about you and Nate." Abigail didn't know why she brought such pain onto herself purposely; she just wanted to be a good friend.
"Everything's going perfect." Isabel weaved her fingers through Abigail's silky, blonde hair. "He want's me to come over tonight, just by myself. So my plan with Karla is cancelled." Abigail was relieved that she wasn't going to be with Karla but now even more cautious, she was going to be alone with Nate.
"I'm a little scared..." Isabel continued. "We're probably going to do things and I don't think I'm that good at kissing." Abigail shot her head up and gave a sarcastic look, obviously another stab had been stroked into her heart but she masked it with humor.
"I'm sure you're great at kissing." Abigail could no longer control what was going out of her mouth. All she knew was that she had to make Isabel happy.
"How do you know? It's not like you've kissed me." Isabel snapped back and Abigail scowled mentally.
"I don't need to kiss you to know that you're a good kisser-"
"Weirdo. That doesn't make any sense." Here Abigail was, trying to make Isabel feel better and she just kept shutting her down. "How can you say a person is good at kissing if you haven't even kissed them."
"Well it's not like you want me kiss you."
"True." She knew Isabel was going to say that but damn, it just kept on hitting Abigail in the worst place. Isabel leaned against the cool metal pole, a light trail of sweat trickling down her neck.
"Kiss me." Isabel spoke out of the blue, Abigail widening her eyes. "To see if I'm good at kissing." She elaborated, Abigail's mouth felt dry, her stomach doing flips.
"That's what friends do. Practice on each other." Isabel spoke, fluttering her eyelashes, tugging Abigail's heart strings further.
