I looked around for the voice confused, I opened my mouth to speak and felt my heart sink as strange sounds flowed from it. I went to the backyard and closed the door and stood, “Draw your soul Sword.” I looked at the sword and pulled the sheath from the blade, it was a light blue and the ends of the blade were white. I stood confused looking around as if something around me would tell me what to do. I heard the doorbell ring out, I sheathed the sword and walked to the door, I looked to the peephole to see Jonas I walked away and went upstairs. The dogs followed the doorbell rang a few times and then I heard the door open I crept my head around to see Jonas walking into my house Meatlug and Drifter ran down to greet him. I watched as he closed the door petting the dogs, I ran up the stairs to my room remembering that I had red fingers and red hair. I texted Roger “Jonas is in my house and I can’t control my stone!!” Moments later the message was labeled as read and I heard pounding on the door. I heard it open “I told you to wait outside.”I heard the door close “Get the fuck out of his house!!!” I heard someone running up the stairs and the door opened I sighed seeing Roger. He closed the door after him and ran over to me “Are you okay? Did he see you?” I shook my head no and he sighed “Can you breath okay?’ I nodded and he patted my head. “Has your dad told you anything?” I gestured that it was kinda explained. “Roger what the fuck are you doing?” I watched as the door opened Roger threw myself to the door closing it and locking it he sighed. Jonas pounded on the door “let me talk to him,” I shook my head and Roger leaned on the door “He doesn’t want to talk to you, I wouldn’t either you are mean to him.” I sat hugging myself trying to calm down closing my eyes I focused on pulling the stones back into my chest. I couldn’t breath as I tried to calm down I began to gasp for air and Roger shook me “Malcolm!! breath look at me.” I opened my eyes and took a breath he pulled me into a hug and sighed. “What is going on Malcolm?! Open the door! Come on please I am sorry.” I looked to Roger, he patted my head “it’s okay,” I looked up at Roger and he touched my face so gently. “It’s okay to be a monster,” he pulled up his shirt and I touched his diamond stone and he put his hand on my chest over my stones. I looked to his horns ignoring the pounding on the door. His horns didn’t go straight up but went back which made it easier for him to hide them. I touched them and he chuckled and put his head down letting me touch them it was weird I pulled on them and he groaned. He chuckled and he looked back at me and touched the dots on my face and I felt my face go hot and he touched my hair. “Malcolm please open the door I just want to talk…” I looked to Roger who groaned “What do you want to do?” I looked to my hands and looked back to Roger and shrugged I heard metal scraping “I am picking the lock.” I looked to the window and Roger shook his head I nodded smiling and he went down first I grabbed my emergency bag with some clothes, bandages, cash, and water and watched as he jumped down landing with a groan and followed through with a role he looked back to me “It’s okay even if you do break something I can give you some of my blood and you will heal quickly.” I pulled up my hood and closed my eyes as I jumped. I felt him catch me I opened my eyes and he laughed I did too, he set me down and he grabbed my bag as we ran off. “Roger! Wait I just wanna talk.” We ran for a while we stopped at this house I looked to Roger and he waved his hand “This is a witch that took me in.” I walked in and looked around the house everything looked normal I saw a few kids sitting at a desk their hands over a glowing ball as they focused on it. A woman looked to us as we walked in she looked around my age “Mama Maddie?” Roger said as he got closer “This is a friend of mine, Malcolm. Malcolm, this is Mama Maddie.” I looked to the girl confused she had all black on and looked like some emo kid that would hate everything. “Looks aren’t everything, young elf,” She said as she stood “So not worry about using some box to speak I know what you want to say.” I looked at her confused "It's a magic necklace. Children listen up for a moment we have a young elf in the room.” I watched as the kids looked to me and I froze Mama Maddie went on “Witches use objects to create their magic which makes it far easier to control. Take away the object and you have no magic but it also can be our weakness. As for you elves, their magic comes from their magical stones embedded in their chest and their soul. Anyone can become a witch but elves are born. Elves' magic takes years to master but when you master it your body stops aging and using your magical energy instead. Some elves have lived for several hundred years. But the question is can an elf become a witch?” She looked to the kids and I watched as the kid began to think. One raised their hand and she picked on them and they stood “Yes because magic items don’t use magical energy from the caster but the magic energy from when they were created.” I watched as Mama Maddie walked around “Do you think it would affect the elf?” The kid paused then stood strong as she thought “I don’t know…” the child sat down “no, it would not affect the elf. But if they were still working on mastering elf magic it may affect the time they spent on their own magic, which in the end would affect them.” She paced looking at me and smiling down on the kids “Why do I enforce the rule about only using your own magic tool?” all of the kids raised their hands she choose one and watched as they stood “Because a magic tool remembers everything used on it and when someone else uses it the magic tool shows them the way others have used it.” The witch looked back to me and began to creep up to me she tapped the stones in my chest and smiled “As do the stones of elves.” The student looked to me “but removing a stone from an elf would remove their life force…” Mama Maddie turned and shook her finger “Not impossible but close to it… taking their magical energy and pouring it into the human then forming the stone into magical energy then giving the human the energy forms a powerful stone. And if two different element elves give their energy and stones then what do you have?” The student sat down and the other student raised their hand and stood. “A higher chance of it working and a dual element elf.” Mama Maddie clapped “so if you remove the stones of an elf who has learned their magic and trained physically to someone else what happens?” A few raised their hands and a loud timer went off “okay remember to keep your tools clean and if you need help come and talk to me.” I watched as the kids gathered their things and walked out of the house, “I teach magic some parents want their kids to understand the arts of magic so they send their kids to me for schooling. Now as for the answer to that question, the stone remembers everything all it needs is a little push, use the magic once and the stone will give you a gut feeling of what to do. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need to train it still means that you need to train your stone, learn to control it and it will show you the memories of the old owner of the stones.” She walked to the backyard and I followed her I saw a man with 4 white wings sitting, he wore a black hoodie with a red skull on it with black jeans with holes in them. “This is Mayaken,” I looked to see him sleeping Mama Maddie kicked him and he jolted and looked around “Mama Maddie why are you so mean to me?” He looked to me and stood “Oh cool is that a…” He looked down on me as he kept drawing out the 'a' as if he was still figuring out what I was. “A Dual element Elf... yes he is,” Mama Maddie said scoffing “Mayaken this is Malcolm, Malcolm this is Mayaken a gatekeeper of the magic realm.” Mayaken looked to Roger and bro-hugged, “So how did you stumble upon this little guy?” Roger put his arm around him and Mama Maddie looked shocked and facepalmed “he didn’t stumble upon him but rather fell for him the first time he saw him.” Mayaken laughed and Roger argued with Mama Maddie “Why did you have to say that out loud. Keep other people's thoughts to yourself.” Mama Maddie chuckled as did Mayaken“Haha nice one Mama Maddie way to out him.” Roger began to horseplay with Mayaken and Mama Maddie went back inside “come here, child.” I followed her back into the house and we sat down in a chair, “The spirit that has blessed you it's quite strong but I can tell you do not know how to train yet.” I looked to her confused and she gestured me to lay down, “I will teach you how to speak to the spirit. When I was born my mother used my body as a host for a fox spirit, as when I turned 8 she put a demon inside of me. Teaching me to see both sides to darkness and light they taught me magic and when I turned 10 I started college at the age of 15 I am 18 now, I finished college not long ago... Both of them showed me the answers to life’s questions and gave me the blessing of their power.” She talked as I laid back, “Now what I want you to do is close your eyes and picture your spirit and your soul sword.” I sat there and sat there for some time, and I felt like nothing was happening “go to sleep.” I felt my eyes get heavy and I drifted to sleep, everything was black and I was standing in water, “young Elf you have returned.” I looked to see the flame Ice Wolf Spirit from last time, I looked to my clothes to see them as a red cloak that faded to white and a white shirt and black pants with black boots. My sword was in the sheath that was strapped at my side, “Draw your sword.” I drew the sword and he told me to correct my stance I felt as if I was hunched over in some funny way. Standing sideways with my hand holding my sword barely bent and my free hand hovering in front of me. My feet wide apart, the spirit made me stand like that forever, “When can I move?” He looked over to me and I watched as crystals on his chest grew they suddenly launched out toward me and stopped in front of my face “Again.” I watched as the crystals fell and came back to him he charged them back toward me and I hit them. “Step when you strike then return to your stance, Your goal is to get to me.” It seemed like hours of trying to do this he laid on his back as he looked to the darkness surrounding us as his crystals attacked me pushing me further and further back. I fell to my knees after being so tired, “You are nothing but bones you wield the sword as if it is a paintbrush. You look as if you are going to die. This is isn’t going to work….” He groaned as he walked away “Get on your feet we are going to see your mother.” I stood and sheathed my sword the spirit stood in front of a white door, the door opened I looked out to a field of yellow and purple flowers. My mother’s black dress with flame-like colors running up it stood out in the field of colors, her long black hair looked as if the ends were on fire. I walked through the door and ran stumbling through the flowers, I watched as my mother slowly turned. Her gaze lifted from the flowers she held, too me as I stood before her, she dropped the flowers and backed up tears formed in her eyes as she held her mouth. “Oh god Malcolm is that you?” I nodded and she scanned me up and down “Good god what happened?” I felt my heart drop and she crept closer “What happened to my baby did you starve to death?” She gently touched my face as she scanned me. She looked to the spirit and looked back to me “Mom I am still alive.” She looked to the spirit and pulled me to her chest hugging me we stood for a moment. “What happened to you?” I held her hands and she touched the bones that poked from my wrists, “oh honey…” I touched her hand and looked to her “What happened?” The spirit bumped me “I have a problem,” The spirit scoffed “I have a few problems…” She held my hands and we sat down “Tell me what's wrong with you?” I paused looking into my mother’s soft tearing yellow eyes and little red dots that rained on her cheeks. “I don’t eat, or speak, or sleep… I can’t go outside without my service dog and I use a phone like device to talk… I used to get beat up every day and I have a lot of scars…” My mother lifted my shirt and cried going over the words that clearly laid on my chest and stomach. “And worst of all…” I looked into my eyes as tears went down my face “I’m gay.” My mother hugged me “oh honey I don’t care that you are gay. I care that you are suffering you have to promise me to get better okay?” She touched my hair and pulled my shirt to look at my stones she went over them with her fingers. I looked to her to see a scar in the shape of a diamond where her’s once sat. I am so glad you are alive I need you to keep living and learn to live. And fall in love and come to my grave with the one your boyfriend.” She kissed my forehead and put my forehead to hers I closed my tear filled eyes when I opened them again I was back in the real world I sat up and looked around Mama Maddie was sitting in her chair and Roger was still wrestling with Mayaken. Mama Maddie touched her watch “3 minutes. That’s gotta be a record.” She looked at me and came to my side and wrapped her arms around me “it’s gonna be okay.” I watched as the boys stopped wrestling and walked back in the house, she grabbed my arms and sighed “now it’s time for you to go home.” I nodded and Roger walked me back home. As we walked the sounds that once towered over me didn’t seem so big now. I heard a crashing sound and turned to see a car that ran into a light post. I ran over and saw the woman in the front seat I tore open the door and pulled her out. I saw a baby in a car seat in the back in the back and a teenage girl sitting next to them. In the front seat was another teenage girl, the girl up front was awake and began to scream and cry, I crept to the passenger side and opened the door she frantically pulled at the seat belt. I touched her hand and looked at her and tried to unclick the seat belt I heard the baby crying. I pulled and pulled I looked back to see Roger doing CPR on the women I pulled and finally it unclicked. I grabbed the girl and helped her to the sidewalk, I opened the other door and got the baby out and handed it to the teen girl she calmed down the babies cries and looked them over for wounds as I got the other girl out. I watched as her lifeless body dangled as I pulled her from her set. I felt my heart drop and I started CPR, I watched as Roger helped the women he did CPR on, get up and go over to her children and I kept on. Time seemed to drag its nails in my skull as each moment ticked by. Suddenly the girl coughed and I rolled her over to her side and as she felt better she sat up. She looked at me then backed up, Roger grabbed me and started to run I followed looking to my fingers to see they were red and white tipped.
