Destiny stood at the edge of the village she walked through the ruins of the once prosperous village. The ruins brought great sadness to Destiny it was only days ago that she was there and laughter filled the villages but now it was silent the only noise to be heard was the dying fires.
Destiny heard the sound of cries coming from what was once a house. She runs into the house but all that stood were the beams that held the house up. She could tell that it was dangerous to be in the house it would collapse at any second. As she walked through the house she heard people talking one crying the other struggling to calm the other person.
Destiny placed her hand on a beam trying to hide herself so she could look and she saw a little boy with light brown hair he was trying to lift a beam up with all his might but the beam didn't move. Destiny returned to hiding completely behind the beam she took a deep breath. She looked back at the boy and she looked even closer and she saw a little girl with light brown hair crying and her ankle was trapped under the beam the boy was trying to lift. Destiny sighed and she knew what had to be done. She stepped out of the shadows and walked towards the children.
"Are you two alright?" Destiny asked with a small smile on her face, "if you want I can help you." she said looking at the two. The boy looked up at Destiny and tears were filling his eyes. The little girl wiped her eyes and nodded cause she desperately wanted to escape.
Destiny looked at the boy who wiped his tears before they left his eyes also nodded. She messed up the boy's hair giving him a smile filled with warmth. "Don't cry little one everything will be ok" she said. The boy sniffed and she kept smiling she walked over to the beam that trapped the young girl.
Destiny had just discovered her new power over fire she wouldn't try and understand the power now especially since she could injure the children. She closed her eyes trying to focus she couldn't afford to hurt them. After a minute passed by ice started to cover the dirt. The ice started to turn into a pillar and it grew toward the sky under the beam. Once the ice had grown it lifted the beam 10 inches. Destiny opened her eyes and saw that the beam was lifted and that now all she had to do was to grab the girl.
Destiny stood up and looked at the boy whose eye grew wide in awe of what he had seen. Destiny ran to the side of the girl. "I'm going to lift try not to move ok?" she said looking at the girl. The young girls hair fell to the side as she looked up at Destiny, with her golden brown eyes that were still filled with tears. Destinys heart ached for the girl in pain. She got down on one knee and she wrapped her arms around the girls waist gently not wanting to cause her more pain. Destiny slowly dragged her out from under the beam she then set her down. Destiny stood up and looked at the young boy. The boy rushed to the girls side he went down on his knees next to her. The girl wiped her tears and then she hugged the boy carefully not moving her right ankle.
“A-Ali a-are you ok?” he started to say between his cries hugging her back trying not sob. Without hesitation she nodded as the pain became numb in her ankle. Destiny stepped back she smiled looking at the two happiness filled Destiny. She turned away taking two steps away from the two. The two looked at Destiny the boy stood up.
“ Th-Thank you! ” he waited and he covered his eyes trying to wipe away his tears. Destinys heart throbs for him she couldn’t just leave the two young children by themself. She gave a small gentle smile and thought of what she should do. She had to travels to the Great Oak City. A few moments pass and she walks over to the two.
“Why don’t you tell me what happened and what you two are going to do now.” she said as she kneeled down to them. The girl sat up and looked at her brother and she nodded. The young girl seemed to know exactly what was going around while the boy seemed to still be in a daze of what was happening.
“ I am Ali and this is well Rai” she said pointing to the boy “we are from the Green Clan” she took a pause “we are orphans and the village took care of us...all we have is each other and I’m not sure what we are going to do now” she said biting her lip trying to think of all the possible scenarios of the conversation. Rai looked at his sister as she spoke his tears had dried up. Destiny looked at them two her thought spinning until she came to one conclusion that since there were members of the Green Clan she would bring them with her to the Great Oak City since it was part of the Green Clans territory.
“Alright well how about you two come with me to the Great Oak City and hopefully when we get there I can help you two as much as I possibly can?” Destiny asked them. The two siblings nodded it was a relief to them. Destiny looked at the girls ankle it would take time to heal and would be a burden on the journey. She knew that now she would need much more supplies for the journey.
“ Ok that's good to hear now Rao I’m need you to gather as much supplies as you can for the journey from the village, I will take Alli and attend to her injuries.” she said and Rai as eager as ever nodded then ran off into the ruins of the village looking for supplies. Ali look up at Destiny and hope was in her eyes she was grateful for all the kindness Destiny was showing her.
“ Thank you I can’t express how much this means to us. We didn’t think anyone would hear our cries.” a few tear rolled down her cheek. “ It was awful the fire just consumed everything and everyone N-No one could stop them.” Ali said. Without thought Destiny wrapped her arms around Ali. Ali cried and cried as she held onto Destiny tightly.
As Ali cried it hit Destiny in a wave of emotions and a tear escaped her eyes and slowly rolled down her cheek hitting Alis shoulder. She then took a small breath to help her control herself so she could compose herself. One Ali loses her grip Destiny put her hand on her shoulder and pushed Ali apart. Ali looked at Destiny and then she wiped her tear away. Destiny gave a pure and kind smile to Ali to reassure her that she was going to be safe now.
When ten minutes passed Rai came running back toward them with his arms full of supplies and a bag over his shoulder. He set everything down then he put his hands on his knee as he tried to control his heavy breathing “I- I brought as much stuff as I could carry and whatever I thought was useful.” he said. Destiny snickered looking at the boy.
“You did awesome.” She said as she stood up and patted his head. She looked at the supplies and then at Ali she noticed some bandages that he had grabbed “This is perfect for Ali’s injury” she said as she picked up the white piece of cloth then walked over to Ali she sat down near her ankle. The ankle was already turning a dark purple and was severely bruised she prayed to the Gods that it hadn’t broke. She carefully picked up the ankle Ali winced in pain at the sudden touch. Destiny slowly wrapped the ankle in the bandage.
Ali looked at her ankle then at her brother she gave him a thumbs up. Destiny smiled at the two. “Alright now that Alis ankle has been taken care of let get ready to pack up it's still early morning so we will start walking and make camp when the sun starts to come down.” she said Destiny saw a well looking small wagon near the exit of the camp she would use it to carry Ali and some of the supplies. Rai jumped to his feet and started to organize the material.
Once they had loaded all their materials into the wagon Destiny slowly picked up Ali and placed her on the small pile of hay with a blanket thrown over it. She looked at Rai. “Ok Rai we will be walking and lets get as far as we can today,” she said, then she walked to the front of the wagon where the handles were and she lifted the wagon and started to walk. Rai walked on the side of the wagon so he could talk to Ali. As they left the village and entered into the forest Destiny looked back and a flash of all her memories there played but she knew she had to move on one step at a time. She took the first step of her amazing journey.
