     "Didrik threatened to report me for this. I assured him that I will take accountability should the Queen object after I have my results. Let this be a record of my intent to be true to my word.

     "I owe <REDACTED> more than a few favors for what he brought me: not just one but three live specimens! Perhaps "live" is redundant when these- not 'people,' no; they only superficially resemble people. These 'creatures' are supposedly immortal. Whether or not this proves to be the case, I'm sure those twisted bodies are hiding a treasure trove of secrets for me to discover."

"Observation report, Day 1.
     "Specimens isolated for study. I understand they are quite a bit more powerful than they appear though these three do not appear to possess notable ferocity or even aggression. The two larger specimens have made apparent attempts to communicate though I find nothing familiar in the sounds they make. I've instructed my team to avoid excessive contact as personal attachments may hinder progress. The third is not only more docile but physically smaller leading me to suspect it may be one of their young. If so, this could be particularly valuable in my research."

"Observation report, Day 3.
     "Per my instructions the male specimen 02 has been denied both food and water since arrival. My team reports a significant decrease in vocal activity but little to no change in other behaviors. Female specimen 01 has shown a marked preference for fruit over other foodstuffs despite possessing what outwardly resembles a snake's features including fang-like teeth and a torso that terminates in a long, serpentine body. (Personal Note: Dietary needs and preferences in this highly variable species will need to be explored.)

     "Youth Specimen 03, sex indeterminate, has ignored rations since yesterday as well as remaining sedentary in confinement. Whether it is curiosity or sentimentality that moves me I do not know but I have allowed a few of my assistants to attempt socialization in a limited capacity. Resulting observations may be of tenable scientific value but perhaps morale will improve as a result."

"Observation report, Day 10.
     "Specimen 02 has given us today a wealth of new data. After several hours of visible agitation, he attempted to break out of the enclosure; without success, of course, as even a full dragon would struggle against our reinforcements. Of interest is that after force and talon failed, we were surprised to see an impressive spectacle of wild magic. (Personal Note: I feel fortunate to have witnessed this first-hand after being summoned by the staff on duty. Considering the subjects' mix of traits, I'm curious to find if said spell-crafting more resembles the sorcery of the Beasts or the mutterings of those knife-eared Alfari savages.)

     "Following the outburst we were able to confirm that standard means of sedation proved effective. Once we can tailor the dose to maintain both consciousness and compliance, I will be interested to administer more direct investigation."

"Observation report, Day 13; personal addendum.
     "Live dissection of Specimen 02 has given me much to consider. I'm not yet ready to concede to the subject's immortality though I have a greater respect for how such a rumor has spread. During several hours of examinations, 02 exhibited no recognizable pain response yet retained tactile and motor responses. Flesh easily parts yet no blood is spilled and what should be a grievous wound readily mends in mere moments. Under magnification samples of both blood and tissue appear mundane though maintain viability seemingly indefinitely. This warrants further study."

"Observation report, Day 17; Chief supplemental.
     "The director has all of us worried. She's barricaded herself in the lab with these pieces of numbers 01 and 02. Large pieces. I don't know what she did to them but I've never seen them in such a sorry state; the wounds should've closed before we even had them back in the cells but the... holes have barely started to close since this morning. Even little 03 is acting strangely, hiding in the corner again, and he'd been warming up to us over the last two weeks. Whatever the director is doing I think the little one can sense it too."

"Observation report, Day 20.
     "I've found their little secret, yes! They call themselves 'gods' but they're more like the fiends from the Downside, every little bit of them just bursting with Life. But even the fiends have little empty places where entropy thrives and now I know where it is after seeing in these immortal monsters where it isn't. I'll show them how brilliant I am!

     "I'll show them all soon, yes! I can already feel my serum working!"

"Emergency, emergency! Please respond! We need immediate evacuation from <REDACTED>. A few of us locked ourselves in a containment cell but the door may not hold! The director, she's turned into-" Signal lost.

"Attention personnel;
     "Director Didrik will be heading the project moving forward per direct orders from the Queen herself. Please re-familiarize yourselves with Level 2 security and containment protocols. We don't need a repeat of what happened last month.

     "And Ingomar, if I catch you teasing the Demons again I swear I'll see to it they bite off more than your beard next time!"
