Abigail's head rested on the desk; art class was a disaster, no one ever paid attention and the teacher was mostly absent. Tyler nudged her side softly and Abigail lifted her head.
"Delilah told me some family issues came up, is everything alright now?" Abigail forced a smile and nodded her head. She came to school mostly to learn and forget about her home problems- oh and also to see Isabel.
Abigail wanted the bell to ring as soon as possible, she wanted to see Isabel and just listen to her talk. Abigail had talked to Avery, unfortunately it was over the phone and somewhere in the conversation Avery had gotten mad and ended the call, they didn't even get to the kissing part. She now had another problem on top of all of her other worries.
The bell signaled and Abigail, linking arms with Tyler, made a run for the courtyard.
"Jesus, what's the rush? That eager to see Isabel?" Tyler scoffed in humor. Abigail rolled her eyes, she didn't just want to see Isabel, she was also very hungry and needed food. She queued in line and got her food, her face falling when seeing Isabel and Nate sitting alongside Tyler.
She sat down quietly, Tyler knowing exactly she was jealous. "Have any idea what your artwork is going to be on?" Tyler asked, shifting her focus from the two lovebirds situated next to them. Abigail smiled softly at his attempt to make conversation.
"Not yet. How about you?" Abigail played around with the food in front of her, she could hear the giggling and whispering from Isabel and Nate.
"I have no clue." He rolled his eyes in frustration and took out his phone. Abigail felt lonely, with Tyler busy on his phone and Isabel busy with her boyfriend, Abigail felt as though she was left out unintentionally, she sat in quiet, eating her food.
Abigail realized she was being moody, it wasn't their fault. She opened her mouth, ready to start a conversation with Isabel and act casual.
"Hey Isa-" The rest of her words were left dying in her mouth. Nate and Isabel sat there, kissing- no, it wasn't kissing, they were practically sucking faces. Was this even allowed on school grounds? She could see Nate's tongue sliding past her bruised lips. Abigail could feel her heart strings pulling apart. As babyish as it sounded she felt hurt, really hurt.
She gulped, loud enough to grab Tyler's attention. His eyes widened at the sight, instantly feeling bad for Abigail.
"Oh shit, I left my biology book in art class." Abigail forcefully chuckled, grabbing her things and walking away. She turned back and saw that Isabel and Nate were still going at it, not even noticing that she was gone, Tyler seemed guilty and apologetic.
As much as Abigail wanted to get away from her, Isabel had a strong leash attached around Abigail's neck, letting her go a certain distance only to pull her back with strong force; it was as if Isabel owned Abigail without even being aware of it. Abigail walked straight ahead, not knowing where she was going. Her face hit a hard chest and she peered up into Avery's dark orbs. Great...
"Hey Avery." She waved, awkwardly and Avery could not help but smile at her adorableness.
"Hey, where you heading?"
"Um, nowhere?" She answered, confused. Avery let out his arm, waiting for Abigail to link it, to which Abigail gladly took. She was happy that things between Avery and her were going alright.
"Let's go join your friends." Abigail grimaced, she didn't want to see Nate and Isabel exchanging saliva, but hopefully with Avery there, she would have someone to distract her.
"How's life going?" Abigail asked randomly.
"Pretty meh, I suppose." He answered with a raised eyebrow."Yours?"
"Same." Avery gave a low hum and let go of Abigail's arm, placing his hand on Abigail's lower back. Abigail gazed at him in question and Avery revealed a radiating smile, heightening Abigail's suspicion.
When Abigail and Avery walked back to the table, Tyler had gone, leaving Nate and Isabel, thankfully they were just talking; no kissing. Abigail sat down along with Avery, his arm now snaked around her waist. Isabel wiggled her brows and Abigail wanted to puke. Avery and her were just friends, or so that's what Abigail thought.
"You guys going together for the upcoming prom?" Avery asked, and Nate smirked proudly.
"You guys should go together, it'll be cute." Isabel commented. Abigail felt slight anger course through her. Why would Isabel say that? She gazed towards Avery and found that he was avoiding all eye-contact.
"I don't think I'm going to go." Abigail truthfully admitted, she could hear Isabel gasping out loud.
"What? Why?" Abigail simply shrugged, hoping at least one of them would understand.
"If she doesn't want to go, we can't force her. It's her choice." Avery stepped in and for Abigail saved the day, she shot him a quick smile.
"Alright then." Isabel's tone was dangerous, Abigail had known Isabel long enough to recognize when she got irritated- and right now, she was irritated. She could feel Isabel's intense gaze burn into her but she refused to look up. She was going to hear it from Isabel later, that was for sure.
Avery sensed her mood change and gave her a dirty look, the two were shooting daggers at each other and Abigail was even more confused.
"Why are you mad just because she doesn't want to follow you for once." Abigail's mouth parted open, Avery definitely had built up anger he wanted to release. Though she knew Avery was defending her she couldn't help but feel hurt, she was Isabel's follower?
"What are you saying?" Isabel's face consorted in confusion and annoyance. Abigail kept quiet, not knowing what to say, she could tell Nate was stuck in the same awkward position.
"Nothing." Avery muttered through gritted teeth and all Abigail could think about was how he called her Isabel's fan; a side-chick. Abigail felt crushed at that moment, knowing it was true but hearing it from someone else's mouth made it worse.
Abigail got up and left the table, the plaguing thought stuck in her mind; she was always getting used by Isabel.
