Westwind
Hiro just got done backing his bag. He had everything ready to begin his journey.
“When are you leaving?” asked Jewel. He tried to say it as kindly as possible; “Now.” Jewel looked both shocked as upset that Hiro wanted to leave right away. “Can’t you wait till the morning?” “It is morning in the east. I better use my time wisely.” He opened his bag. Hiro was looking for something. “What are you doing?” she asked. “Here.” Hiro handed over a whistle. “A whistle?” she said rather sarcastic. ”What do I need to do with a whistle, Hiro?” He laughed. “I understand that you are confused.” “I’m.” “Don’t you see it?”
Jewel observed the whistle. It shocked her. She saw that the white whistle had a very tiny red bird on it. “Is it a real-” “A real Red Whistle.” he interrupted. Her mouth was wide open, she was so shocked. “How? When? I…” Hiro laughed. “Yup, I got a Red Whistle.” “You stole it.” He looked offended. “Ouch, Jewels.” “Then tell me. How did the most successful assassin of The Wind get A RED WHISTLE?!” He smiled kindly. “Gifted by Milady Whistle herself or as some known her, Lady Whistle, Mistress of The Wind, Red Widow, Empress Claw..” Jewel looked like someone told her fairies were still alive. “I think she also goes by the name Duchess if I’m not mistaken.” He thought for a few seconds.. “Not too sure about that one, I just call her Birdie.”
Jewel still looked shocked. He nicknamed her, HER?! She was eager to hear more about him and the famous Milady Whistle. Well actually, she just wondered if the two were dating.
“Birdie?” “Uhh, I would love to tell you the full story some other time but right now, I really need to get going.” She was looking down to admire the whistle. “If Orion does anything to you, all you have to do, is whistle on the whistle.”
Goodbye Jewel..
“H-” Jewel moved up her head but Hiro was nowhere to be seen. “-iro..” She sighed.
Another time then..
Highland
A few hours had passed since Amethyst’s awaking. She had told her family about her latest dream. Avalon was shocked and wanted to know more.
So, Amethyst told everything about the dream she had been having for a while and showed her notebook. Avalon was quiet, very quiet after reading the notebook. He left with Avrilla for a while.
Blossom and Amethyst could hear the two arguing. They had sent away the guards, servants, every elf out of their quarters. Glasses were smashed on the ground, Avrilla would scream every now and then. It went on for many hours. At the end of the evening, they both came back to Amethyst’s bedroom. The elf-girls had wondered what was going on between their parents.
“Girls, your father wants to speak to you two.” Avrilla looked like a wreck, something that was unlikely to be seen. Avrilla always has been a marvellous elf-woman but now, she was broken. Avalon stepped forward. “We-” “You!” said Avrilla with an aggressive tone. He sighed. “I..need to confess something, something that can’t leave this room.” Amethyst and Blossom looked at each other.
Did you write about that summer, Thyst? - No, I would never do that. I swear.
Avalon took his time to find the right words and then he said it, he very much did. “You two are not sisters..”
Quickly, Blossom grabbed her arrow and bow. She targeted her father. “What did you say?!” She was shaking. “Blossom!” yelled Avrilla. “Don’t do anything foolish, my child.” said Avalon. Blossom shot the arrow next to Avalon’s head, landed on the ground. “BLOSSOM!” yelled both Avrilla as Amethyst. “I’m out of here.” Blossom jumped out of the window.
Their parents ran towards the window. Blossom had landed safely on the ground. She looked at them, her father, with hate. She ran away. “It’s all your fault!” yelled Avrilla at Avalon while she pushed him aside. Avrilla stormed out the bedroom. “I understand her anger..” he said. Amethyst was still trying to process what was going on. “Does that mean Avrilla is-” “Not your biological mother.” interrupted Avalon. “Explains a lot..” Amethyst was sad.
My whole life has been a lie..
Avalon sat down next to her. He put his arm around her. “Amethyst..” “I don’t understand… Are you even my father?” “Of course, I am! And you will always be my daughter in Eira’s name!” Avalon had tears in his eyes, something that you don’t see often. “And Blossom? Is she..” “Blossom is the rightful heir of Highland.” he said. “But that doesn’t change anything, my daughter.”
Amethyst shook her head. “She will hate me.. I’m a bastard.” He looked serious at her. “You will never be a bastard. You carry my name.” He stood up. “No soul will speak about this.” He looked into her eyes, her ocean eyes. Avalon shed a tear. “Get some rest, we will all speak about this together, as a family, tomorrow.”
Amethyst of Highland.. I should have been Amethyst East. Why did father do this? I wasn’t his firstborn. Blossom is. Oh Eira, Blossom must hate me. Please do not make her hate me.
