Minho:
Even after all this time in the maze I am always so surprised when we still come up with nothing. The maze constantly changes and yet we never find anything new and nothing ever changes.
Ben and I finished out run and headed out of the maze looking at everything around us trying to see if we missed something on the way back, but like usual there was still nothing. The only things on the wall were the thick vines to small to climb all the way up, and the bricks on the walls. Those were the things that never changed no matter how many times that we came into this maze. Each time left me leaving like it was the first day that we were there.
The way back was quite and long. By the time we got to the maze there was no one outside. Everyone already heading to bed or at least into the homestead.
We headed to the map room to record all that we had learned today but like usual there wasn’t much or anything that we learned. Everything pretty much the same as the last day. There were only things like the vines thicker here or there, that was the most of the recording recently.
We got to the map room and wrote down the finding and leaving out weapons on the wall along with out bags. After that we headed to the kitchen and grabbed the food that Frypan would leave out for us. Today it was a grilled cheese sandwich and surprisingly it was still nice and warm. I guess that Frypan must’ve finished just a few minutes ago. I said a thank you in my head while I took it and went to one of the empty tables and eat it. Ben sat with me and we talked a little bit but most of it was just us sitting in silence eating out food.
When I got to the room I listened in trying to figure out it there was anyone in there. I didn’t hear anything so I opened the door. It was really dark and I couldn’t see much. The light from the moon illuminated the room a little bit making it so I could see just the outline of things almost and some things not even that much.
I walked into the room stumbling on something. I looked down and realized that it was a blanket. I had almost completely forgotten that we made the bed almost right in the doorway. I looked just a little bit off the blanket and noticed the small thin body of Eliza. She was pulled into a ball taking up such little space on the ground. I grabbed the blanket pulling it up over the body of the sleeping girl on the girl. She stirred a little but didn’t wake up.
I moved away from her and to my own bed. I sat on it not quite laying down yet. I felt exhausted but for some reason I couldn’t seem to fall asleep. I felt like there was something keeping me from falling asleep. I didn’t know what but I tried to push it away. I let my body fall onto the bed as my head hit the pillow.
I stared at the ceiling looking at the uneven wood and how it bent and curved in certain places. Soon my eyelids began to feel heavy and I began to slip into sleep.
I shot up in my bed the sound of crying woke me. I quickly got out of my bed and moved to the bed on the ground. Eliza was tossing and turning in the bed. Tears streaming down her face. I placed my hands on her shoulders but pulled them away at the cold temperature her skin was. Her skin was so cold it almost felt like touching ice.
“Eliza!!” I called out. She made nothing that seemed to show that she heard me, “Eliza!”
Still she didn’t show any sign that I had said anything. I grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her. I hoped this time I would get some kind of response. It worked and I almost called out in joy.
She shot up her eyes full of tears and her hands shaking. She tried to cover her face but I grabbed her hands and pulled her into a hug. I don’t know why I did it but I felt like I should. She tensed up in my arms but soon relaxed a little and cried into my chest. I didn’t mind though I felt happy and like I had done this before, but I knew that wasn’t possible.
After a few minutes her cries began to stop. She pulled out of my arms and looked up at me. Her face eyes were red and still dripping with tears.
“Thank you Minho. Sorry I got tears all over your shirt.” she said her voice rough and dry.
“Hey your fine, it’s just a shirt.” I said laughing a little finding it funny she was worried about my shirt, “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine now. Thank you.”
“Do you want to tell me what was going on? Was it a nightmare?”
“I don’t know. I guess it was kinda a nightmare, but it felt like a memory and I was in it only younger.”
At first I just looked at her thinking she must be joking. There was no way that she had a memory of her life. The only way you did is by getting stung. I had never heard of anyone getting some of their memory back. After a few seconds her face didn’t change and I knew that she was telling the truth. She had, had a memory.
I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I shut it again and than opened it this time words coming out.
“What happened in the memory?”
“Um. I was standing on a mat and I had to fight someone. They were much older and looked a lot meaner. They attacked me and I fought back but I wasn’t myself. I was younger I was-” she started to get worked up her hands starting to shake really bad and her eyes scrunching up.
“Hey it’s fine, don’t worry about it. Why don’t you try to get a little b more sleep.”
“I don’t think I can.”
“What if you can and laid with me.” she looked up at me her eyes widening. I felt my cheeks turn red as it settled in what I had said. “Sorry that was stupid, just ignore what I said.”
“No, um...I would like that.” she looked down whispering it. She was so quiet that I almost couldn’t hear what she said. She looked back up again and meet my eyes. “Thank you for everything that you have done for me.”
I nodded at her not knowing what to say or what was going on. I couldn't believe that I had asked her if she wanted to sleep with me. I didn’t understand what I was doing. Either way I stood up and offered her a head up which she took. When both of us stood up I moved over to my bed bringing the blanket on the ground to the bed for extra warmth. I let her climb in first and she did moving to the edge of the bed letting me climb in after her.
I climbed in and laid down. At first it was really awkward and neither of us moved or really did anything. We were both uncomfortable and not knowing what to do. Then slowly we began to fall asleep. I felt my eyes droop ready to get some well needed rest but it was almost like I was forcing myself to stay awake. It didn’t matter thought because my body had a different idea. I feel into the darkness of my mind, falling to sleep.
I woke to the light beating through the window, landing right on my face warming me up. I moved to get out of bed but found that I couldn’t move.
I looked over and noticed Eliza curled up next to me. She had her arms wrapped around my arm and her head rested on my shoulder. I felt myself smile as I slide my arm out of her arms. She stifled a little but did not wake. Slowly and being as quiet as I could I got out of the bed and gathered what I needed for the maze today.
Ben was probably already waiting for me at the map room and, was quite possibly, getting mad at me for taking too long. It didn’t matter thought because for the first time since I had woken up here I was happy and didn’t care what happened today. I was ready for whatever was going to happen or whatever we encountered.
