Daring Enchantment

Let's Get This Over With.

Let's Get This Over With.

Feb 05, 2019

Kita touched the embroidery of Grandmother and smiled sadly. She was the most precious person he had ever met, and even now, hundreds of years later, thinking of her broke his heart. He closed his eyes and took a deep cleansing breath before he pulled himself away from the memories. “Fate, do you really think clothing me in a set of god's robes is appropriate?” He shook his head, not actually looking for a reply.

The fox waved his hand, and he traded the robes and trousers for dark jeans and a pale blue long sleeved shirt. Fate had magicked his ears back to their human enchantment, and Kita felt a pang of jealousy, because Fate's spell was just a little better than the one the fox could create. The god had left Kita's hair down to his knee's when he'd placed the enchantment, and for once, Kita left it. If he was honest with himself, he'd missed it, so at least for today, he would keep it long.

He quickly braided his hair in one fat twisting rope down his back and secured it with a band that he'd dug out of his messenger bag. He checked to see if anything else needed to be changed and almost overlooked his now, very traditional Japanese shoes. Kita wasn't sure he'd ever worn the wooden platforms, even when he was younger. He was also surprised he hadn't tripped in them and fallen on his face. He quickly switched them out for a pair of light blue boots that matched his shirt.

“Alright, I'm ready now. Let's go get this over with.” Kita flicked the braid behind him, adjusted his bag, and walked out of the alleyway with more confidence than he was actually feeling. The bravado made him feel better, though, so he continued on in the same manner as Fate followed him to his apartment building.

“Good evening, Sir, welcome home,” the doorman said, as he held open the door for Kita.

Kita dipped his head in greeting, “Thank you, Franklin.” He said quietly as he breezed through the doorway, followed closely by Fate. He debated whether he wanted to take the stairs or the elevator. Did he really want to be stuck in a little box with the larger than life god/man? Did he really want to climb thirty flights of stairs? The idea of spending half an hour climbing made the five minute elevator trip sound much better.

He pushed the arrow button and waited for the elevator car to descend to their level. The silence while they waited made Kita fidget. He kept wringing his hands and chewing on his bottom lip with nervousness. Fate placed his hands over Kita's and the fox looked up at him.

The god gave Kita a reassuring smile and squeezed the fox's hands. Fate let go before Kita could start to panic and the doors to the elevator chose that moment to ding and slide open. Kita and Fate waited for the car to clear before stepping inside. The fox slid his access card over a sensor that unlocked the top floor. The doors closed and the elevator began it's climb. Kita looked at the god in the mirrored finish of the doors and gulped. Fate was leaning against the wall, staring intently at the fox.

Kita is over 900 years old. That's pretty typical for a Fox Spirit, if he can change with the times, and Kita prides himself on just that.
Now he lives in one of the largest cities in the U.S. where he enjoys being a bachelor, romancing women, and living as one of the elite.
Never once did he expect his life to get turned upside down by a simple red ribbon. Especially at his age!

This is a slow burn romantic urban fantasy (BL) about a fox spirit, those who would love him, and those who want to destroy him.

Updates randomly.
Please note: this is a story about a male triad, not a couple, there is NO cheating, and there WILL be a happily ever after at the end. <3 I promise it will be an adventure worth reading. LGBT fantasy lit.
