After 5 months of terrible controversy that turned half of the fandom against popufur Kero the Wolf, he has finally decided to leave the fandom and shut down all accounts except for his YouTube where he disabled comments and like to dislike ratio.
Many red flags have gone up that have confused the masses. Did he really harass his dog in a lewd manner? Is the video footage real? What about that tattoo on the guy's chest in one video? Most of these questions have been answered to our disgust.
First off, the fact he said he was hacked just as the leak appeared on Twitter. We later learned he was using a VPN and made it seem as if he was being hacked by some people in Iran. He lied from day one. At the time, we didn't believe him because it was the heat of the moment. After that, we started trusting him less.
Next are the chat logs. The screenshots posted from around 2016 to 2017 by Zoodonym (the Twitter account that exposed him) showed messages shared between SnakeThing and Kero talking about his dog (a black and brown dog with unique markings who passed away in 2017 I believe) and taking pictures of its mouth and various objects in it. He spoke of his experiences with roadkill and children to SnakeThing who seemed to take interest in the same thing. In an interview with Ashley Zoey Fox, he kept claiming the chats were fake and photoshopped. We later learned from Kothorix, another interviewer, that the logs were real.
Then there are the videos. From taking a look at Kero's video tour of his house and comparing it to the setting of some of the videos of the zoophile was doing what he does, you can see that they match up. And Kero tried to delete his house tour video after that was discovered, only making him look worse.
In one of the videos, it does show that the perpetrator had a tattoo on their chest which Kero does not have, freeing him from at least one piece of false evidence. Other than that, there is almost no way to prove any of the evidence wrong. The settings of the videos match Kero's house, he's a compulsive liar and tells lies after lies, he had pictures of his very uniquely marked black and brown dog getting some not very friendly things in it's mouth...
After bombarding him with all this evidence and spam, he went offline from all social media, only strengthening the contempt for him. Some argue that if Kero had acted normal and not lied or acknowledge the situation and resume his YouTube activities, he wouldn't have been in that situation. It is, however, hard to ignore death threats and hurtful sayings from old fans saying "I'll stab you at MFF" and "stay far away from him".
Now that he is gone, we all need to reflect. The furry fandom is a "welcoming" fandom but we have standards. The top-dogs (pun intended) can't just flaunt their strange interests with anyone or anything. They need to be flawless and somewhat respectable as seen from recent where we basically shunned Kero.
Are we going to be an accepting fandom for all people of all kinds but make sure only the purest can be role models or a picky fandom that keeps out the strange when we ourselves are strange enough?
